This film has kind of convinced me that movies cannot be high art because the critics are right about it being a bit shallow but I don't see how you can make a good authentic version of the Odyssey in 3 hours that digs into the complexities of the poem. >>222279999Well this could be plenty of directors actually. Godard could be called such for his editing style. There's a shit ton of directors in general who utilize archival footage shot by other people to assemble documentaries, which is similar to "chopped and screwed". Chris Marker, Sergei Loznitsa pop do mind but this is an extremely popular technique. György Pálfi's Final Cut is a generic love story assembled from like second long shots of various films through history. But it's the only movie of that kind he made.

Btw, none of these movies are less than an 8/10, he is just that good. Well WAS, until he started grifting with Walker movies and "i'll shoot nothing happening and call it a documentary, fly to Paris chud!".
I'm not fat, just big boned.
>>222289675Vive L'Amour is too high.
>>222289858I love it. As a child I had a nagging fantasy about hiding in plain sight nad observing others, like hiding in someone's home or hiding out in a mall at night, etc. or becoming invisible. I was shocked when I watched Vive L'amour because it's basically a movie about the kind of shit I found myself fantasizing about and with the exact perfect tone. Those fantasies were always producing a kind of melancholic feeling in me, but also a freeing comforting one. So this movie is very personal to me and I wonder if Tsai was coming from a similar place.>semi-relevant songhttps://youtu.be/neUEg59XQew
/mu/ didn't care for my Grace Cheung thread yesterday. But of course my Weezer and King Von bait threads are still up. Frankly yikes.

>>222289468Is there any actor even half as charming as Chevalier?
>>222290231>Adam FriedlandWtf, is that true?
Getting started with Grémillon, watched this silent from 1929, some really really great compositions and very dreamlike but beyond that nothing much to write home about really. Structually not really as bold as Au bonheur des dames by Duvivier, but there was a kind of surreal dream sequence that somewhat impressed me; still, fans of le soviet montage should check it out. Just wish there was a better quality available, the release i watched was really terrible (and the music sucked, muted it after five minutes) and i wonder if that might have negatively affected my thoughts a little.Lots and lots of shots of the sea.
>>222290993Yes, he had a cameo in The Sweet East as well, this is his second feature film appearance. The Sweet East was pretty good, I would recommend it.
>>222291162All three of them have acted now, right? Who's the best actor of the three?
>>222291179Stav is the only one who actually did proper acting so far instead of cameoing
>>222291258Was he any good? Never saw Bugonia.
>>222291162>>222291179>>222291258I've only seen Nick, in that one scene where he picks a fight with a guy at a bar, he was actually pretty good.
