Netflix claims they've used AI generated imagery ~300 times in the past yearThe very first one was a scene in "The Eternaut" where a building collapsed after being destroyed by aliens. It was five second shot and certainly would have looked worse with television budget CGI.The Investigation of Lucy Letby did something odd - they interviewed real women from the case, but because they did not want to appear on camera, they simply pasted different AI generated faces on top of them. Traditionally, anonymous interviews like this would have been done with the subject wearing a mask, or sitting back in a very dark room.

Same thing happened with Covid. If you only had access to fictional media then you might have no idea at all that it happened other than a sudden dip in production quality.I remember at the time that it was annoying because I really just wanted to laugh about it but we never got that. There was even some consensus that April Fools day wasn't going to happen due to the fake news aspect.
