Brand New Day is very good and collapses once the story continues after Jean Gray is arrested and Peter has his talk with MJ. It didn't need to do anything and the whole finale feels forced through rewrites. It's so fucking weird to have a conclusion on MJ and then retroactively go against than 20 minutes later? Jean fucking kills a guy in front of Peter too with the whole events of the film using average people as pawns.I think it's the best of the MCU spiderman, it's a step in the right direction but man the finale was so retarded. The Ramni films are much better overall. I don't think anything from Brand New Day gets on the level of Sandman's transformation outside the MJ confrontation if they actually stuck with it instead of giving her memories back, even though Jean knows MJ has nothing of Peter in her mind.

BND is the best MCU spidey film for sure, but they need to make these movies to where they can stand alone outside the MCU. This was meant to be a clean slate after the memory erasing wish, now they're going back to status quo. It's not even nostalgia goggles, the Raimi movies are genuinely so much better made and original. The plot doesn't rely on prior knowledge of other films/characters and it centers on Spider-Man/Peter Parker entirely without needing nostalgia or taking from other films, the cinematography and editing feels fresh and original even today, the music is fucking peak, the humour and dialogue is comic booky and cheesy but still has immense soul and emotion. Tom Holland's movies lack this entirely or are mostly a cheap imitation.While I'll admit Brand New Day is the best of his movies, everything that's fresh and "original" is just taken from either other Spider-Man movies or marvel movie shit
