To be fair, Jimmy Olson is the Rick Jones (Hulk's sidekick) of the DC Universe.

none of this makes a bit of difference because Olsen is not a character popular enough to sustain his own show. An Oslen show only possibly works in a well established universe. Same with Peacemaker, Creature Commandos, Supergirl, and all the other oddball characters Gunn really cares about.

Its like they're constantly trying to catch up to Marvel. There is no need. You missed the boat. you're never catching up to them. They already did a 22 movie Thanos arc. You're not suddenly going to instantly go from 0-100 and have a DC version of Avengers. Just fucking stop. Have each hero have their movie. Put in the time and effort to flesh them out. All this tells me is their characters are so fucking thin they can't fill two hours with their own stories

They need another DCU reboot and instead of mickey mouse shit just do some proper adaptations. One movie for each of the JL crew then a combo movie. Easy.
I don't know why they keep fumbling with this.

The Superman movie was generally weak and felt like a tv show pilot more than anything else.
Supergirl is a dud.
Batman is not only in limbo but that movie should've been one and done.

Not defending Gunn but DC is in a similar state. All their A list characters are fucked. Wonder Woman 84 bombed and a reboot would be a tough sell. The Flash movie bombed. Aquaman reboot would bomb. Marvel at least has momentum and a continuity in the movies. Even if people don't tune in for a couple of dud movies the sheer momentum of the whole franchise can carry it into further projects.

For DCU the problem is it's all tonally mismatched and full of soft and hard reboots across the board. And they keep trying to restart characters then pretend they actually fit into some larger whole after the fact. It's horrible.

People show up for spiderman no matter what. There's others like that such as xmen/Deadpool. They need to lead into other projects with good movies by using their evergreens.

I'd say that's what brand new day was for but the big character tie in was an xmen character so maybe they're just taking only the safest options. Kinda like rehiring all the avengers that were supposed to be gone.
