The only thing that was real was Seth constantly being abusive of his sister. And Ashley realy did quit after getting fed up with Seth and Karen's bullshit after Karen came on board and snaked her way into taking over Ashley's jewelery department. Ashley started her own jewelery store and is happy now.

The story I've been told is the ratings collapsed in the last season because people really hated Karen and her sneaky ways. So when Ashley quit, producers told Les to salvage the show by getting Ashley back and losing Karen. Les tried to compromise to have both since Karen is also family. It didn't work. And the show's been dead ever since. And Karen is still the manager of Ashley's former department. That's at least what I've been told.
