On the surface, it was a low-budget late 90s syndicated show with small sets and flimsy special effects. But at the same time, it built a surprisingly unique fantasy world, expanding the movie’s lore and adding its own spin on the universe weaving in mythic elements, new characters, and a serialized narrative that gave MK a sense of ongoing struggle between the the realms. In a way, the cheapness worked in its favor because it wasn’t beholden to a blockbuster spectacle but instead leaned into atmosphere, martial arts choreography, and world‑building. It was flawed but ambitious, and unique in tone compared to other fantasy shows of the era.
>>222320384It was legit crazy that it got made. I know MK was big, but a live action tv show on a normal ass station? Like for normals to watch? Not just a one off movie? And if I remember, it ended on a cliff-hanger fakeout where everyone died. Or at least their souls were taken from them. If anything, you'd think Street Fighter and Final Fight would lend themselves more to a tv show format? Fully live action, each ep focusing on a cast of characters and their struggles and shit. Since SF overlaps with shit like Final Fight, Rival Schools, you could dip into those too.
I never caught on to this when it was airing, but Sung Hi Lee did give me my first yellow fever
>>222320440Yeah Shao Khan wins and kills everyone and mocks his prisoner Raiden to his face with their skulls then has a short 1 minute montage of solo gloating and it ends. Probably just got canceled though.
>>222320384is this Ultimate Surrender?
it's just TMNT for older kids.
>>222320876They made that already.

>>222320384I only saw bits and pieces of this when it aired. It's funny that fucking Noob Saibot is a character in the show. And it looks like he's somewhat important to the story?
>>222321029That power stance
>>222320384Except the fight choreography sucked ass and the fight/stunt doubles are way too obvious. Kung Lao's double is a white dude for fuck's sake
I blew a lot of loads to SHL
>>222321192Quan Chi stole the show.
>>222321192nice comeback, Priscilla!
>>222321110You're missing out
>>222321215Fake wrong and gay. Also what doubles? Every actor is a martial artist. I guess for some crazy acrobatic triple flips? Lmao who cares nigga.
>>222320384MK Conquest was pure 90s/00s low budget night syndication TV shows - just hot guys / girls doing martial arts to a techno soundtrack. In case zoomers dont know what syndication was, before streaming, there were lots of TV channels besides the major networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, etc and they needed content to fill the hours. Studios would make low budget shows like MK Conquest and then sell syndication rights to these TV stations. Other kino include :Cleopatra 2525Legend of the SeekerFreddys NightmaresThe Howard Stern ShowConan Doyle's The Lost WorldEarth Final Conflict
>>222321435The man who played Scorpion is literally the same guy who trained Tommy the Green Ranger.
>>222320440there was even a popular Mortal Kombat theater show
>>222321865I didn't know Freddy's Nightmares existed until RLM mentioned it in their Freddy franchise maration video. I'm sure it was never on UK television, and I didn't see it in the rental shops either. I decided to check it out, and I wasn't impressed. The first episode begins with the Freddy origin story that was briefly outlined in the first film. This should be a treat for Freddy fans, but the production is EXTREMELY cheap, the script is stupid, and despite the dark subject matter, it feels like it's aimed at young children. But this story is actually the highlight of this horror anthology series, as it turns out that most of Freddy's Nightmares is not about Freddy. After his origin story, Freddy takes a backseat and assumes the role of host, essentially become the Crypt Keeper of this show. From now on, Freddy appears in a frame narrative and introduces short horror stories, of which there are two per episode. From what I've seen, these stories are all shit, and worse still they are unrelated to Freddy and the Elm Street film series. I think would have been disappointed with this even if I had seen it in my childhood.
>>222321865>Conan Doyle's The Lost Worldthanks for reminding me about this one, I wanted to check it out
All (non fat, no uggo) women should have girl slaves. Legalize it.
>>222321435>Also what doubles? Are you retarded? Any time they do ANYTHING they use a double. Blind dumbass

>>222320384is this chinkette a porn actress?
>>222320384Show couldnt have been that obscure if they made a video game about it
>>222320384I have no memory of this show because it was syndicated. My cheap ass local affiliates never picked up any of those cool syndicated shows from the 90s and 2000s.
I could have sworn that Christopher Lambert reprised his role for this show. But I see now that that was a false memory.
>>222320609I used to download and jack off to her nudestasteful 90s porn was based
>>222324811They did reuse some footage from the film so it's easy to mix it all in your head 30 years removed from the fact.

>>222320823Yeah that ending stuck with me for years when I was a kid. Never had I seen an ending as dark and brutal on a TV series as that of Mortal Kombat Conquest. And one that actually fit in with the mythology of the videogames, Shao Khan was portrayed as a cunning, manipulative and ruthless tyrannical warlord that made justice to the colossal threat depicted in the games. Despite the bittersweat and sad fate of Kung Lao and his friends, this series was the best representation of Shao Khan, one of the few rare times you see the villain winning and, most importantly, winning through might and machiavellianism.
>>222320823I mean surely they were going to reverse that with magic or time-travel if the series was renewed.
>>222325378CONFLIT MORTEL
hmm
It was so good when TV was distinctly TV and not just a 20 hour long movie.
>>222326655I think one of the people from the shoe said raiden was going to pray to the elder gods for help but it was not renewed
>>222321029this is what ice spice would look like if she shaved her head
>>222322293Hey Freddy as a host segment works. Friday the 13th had a TV series and Jason literally wasn't in it.
>>222328186This. TV has become movies and movies have become TV, and both are much worse for it.
>>222320384There's literally an episode with Fabiana Udeno from Austin Powers leading an army of succubi intent on draining all the make characters.
>>222324691We got Cleopatra 2525, but not mk. I just saw the end of cleo the other day and it ends on a cliffhanger too...
>>222328186There was a time when I thought everything should be fully serialised like HBO prestige shows, because serialisation is always better! I've since changed my mind about that. The good thing about old TV shows was that if they told a shitty story, it usually didn't last more than one episode. Nowadays that shitty story will be multiple episodes or even a whole season arc.
