>mortal kombat 2
3/10 complete fucking garbage, the first was so much better

>odyssey
5/10 average in every possible way, the people calling it 10/10 are insane

>fury
8/10 awesome movie, shame it's spoilt at the end with the over the top last stand

>john wick 4
6/10 okay, but the series just got worse and worse with every sequel, the blind guy was straight up retarded, even in the john wick universe

>hacksaw ridge
8/10 again a really good movie, but spoilt by a few nonsense moments

Turns out in a world where everything is mediocre misery-slop, a movie about talking sheep solving a murder is pretty welcomed.

>Journey to the End of the Night 10/10

>The Temple of the Golden Pavilion 10/10

Been focusing mainly on good books and less slop this year.

I've been watching some mediocre shit.

>Event Horizon - 7/10
Would have been nice to see the other 30% of the movie that they cut out. The 2/3rds we got was pretty cool though
>Miracle Mile - 8/10
Flawed but fun, and really good visual story telling. Reminded me of a Broadway play
>Not of this earth - 5/10
Roger Corman flick that needed a much longer run time. Strange how many movies I've seen recently that seemed borderline unfinished.
>The Illusionist - 6/10
Released the same year as the Prestige with the same basic plot. Not great but fun, loved the period it was set
>The Hunger - 3/10
Genuinely awful film that was like the visual equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. I didn't even know such a thing was possible to do purely with cinematography but they managed it.
Nothing in the film set/setting was ugly mind you, the literal camera angles and timing were just that awful

And if you're wondering what "Ford Falcon, Buen Estado" is, it's a short horror film from the 80s, Argentina. It's in Spanish though and I had to get by with 3 years of middle school Spanish. It was fine, not great.

Oh, I was about to say - they made Golden Pavilion movie??
Read "Romaji Diary" by Takuboku Ishikawa. You will enjoy it if you liked Golden Pavilion.

>>
>>222321320
he had to get it on

Been going through most of the modern(ish) Bond movies, mostly just my favourites though.

Live and Let Die
7/10 - Fuck you I liked it and Solitaire is hot as fuck.

Goldeneye
10/10 - Unironically the perfect Bond movie.

Tomorrow Never Dies
7/10 - Underrated, like most of Brosnan's.

Die Another Day
6/10 - Nowhere near as bad as people make out.

Casino Royale
8/10 - Great Bond movie, I just don't like Daniel Craig at all.

Indeed, Leaving Las Vegas is excellent.

>>222321376
>Dark Song
I heard that's kino but I've putting it off, seems like the kind of movie you need to be in the right mindset for so I'm waiting for the day.
>>
>>222321125
I have no clue what they were even trying to achieve. They managed to get Karl Urban, not great casting but a big name and he ended up being a side character for most of the movie. Fucking mess.
>>
>>222321376
>>222321454
I love Dark Song. Easily tied for the best occult film I've seen
>>
>>222321454
It's definitely kino but painfully low budget. Honestly feel that works in its favor though, gives it a very weird vibe but it's definitely a slow burn.
>>222321519
What do you have it tied with?

The Craft and "Bell Book and Candle"

>>
>>222321758
You've got the whole gamut of occult films with those three -
Dark Song - hyper realistic occult ritual
The Craft - occult power fantasy
Bell Book and Candle - whimsical occult

Throw in "As Above, So Below" to finish it with some Occult Horror and you'd have every type in the set.

I can't wait to see Her Private Hell. A poorly recieved Refn in this day and age? Sounds promising.
>>
>>222320993

Was hoping The Furious was better but I'll still give it a shot.

>>222321236
Tony Scott is always kino tho.

>>222321137
>>222321376
Is Hokum worth it? I got a vibe from the trailer that it is kind of like Silent Hill, where it looks normal but the deeper he goes in the hotel the place gets weirder and decrepit. But if it isn't like that, I don't know if I can sit through another spooky stuff happens while walking around at night movie.

>The Invite
Honestly? 7.5/10. Seth Rogain is somehow not unbearable in this and it’s legit funny
>Spider-Man Brand New Day
4/10. Way too long, drags like a motherfucker toward the end
>Motor City
7/10
>Odyssey
3/10. Nolan is a fucking hack.
>Young Washington
7/10
>>
>>222322487
It's really good if you are a Refn fan. The cinematography, the colors, and the subdued acting is all there. The only thing really different is the score but it is a Refn Giallo and having De Palma's composer fits really well. It has been hilarious seeing how many people had it go right over their heads. If you can't understand what is going on by the end then you have to be pants on head retarded and unable to pick up on motifs.
>>
>>222322524
The Furious was fine for what it was, there were just some moments I felt the fight choreography was a little cheesy. Set your expectations low and you'll enjoy it.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into with Hokum, but it was a little better than I anticipated. Closer to room 1408 than Silent Hill. Walks the line between something super natural and the MC's own personal trauma pretty well. Overall it ain't bad, just not doing anything too new or interesting.

You clearly haven't seen the movie, clearly. It depicts a real Abremalilin ritual process. Takes weeks to do and has been written about for centuries.
>>
>>222323002
Lmao, you big dummy. Gullible fool.
>>
>>222322644
I'm a Refn fan and it just felt like shit he'd done before executed worse. There is a tinge of his take on a giallo film for about half of the runtime though. Waiting for him to put out a film as good as Too Old To Die Young
>>
>>222321024
>tarantini flick

The occult is nonsense and there’s nothing realistic about it regardless of whether some retard centuries ago wrote about it or not.

He probably just wants to fuck some psycho BPD bitch who is obsessed with crystals. Fucking dumb ass marks believe anything you tell 'em.
