is this why all modern adaptations (HotD, Witcher, RoP) are so shit?
>>
>>222322113
>screen adaptations there are more accurate to the source material
There are so many anime made while the LN or manga is being published knowing damn well they are not going to be a Naruto or One Piece so they have to make up an ending for the one season they get
>>
> tranime pfp immediatly starts praising east asia and claiming they are SUPER FAITHFUL with their adaptions and have no narcissism

Lmao.
Didn't the new Final Fantasy 7 remake add time janitors and a super convoluted plot and tons of gay and black new characters and tons of bollywood dance sequences let alone butchered Aerith's death because the new writers want to leave their mark in the story instead of actually remaking it?

Weeabos should all die.

Japan is full of adaptations with massive liberties taken on the source material

op is talking about shows and movies, not video game remakes developed by game devs
>>222322653
it is
>>
>>222322778
Okay? Akira is a movie of the first like third of the series
>>
it's simple. hollywood is so much bigger than the eastan counterpart and makes adaptations for the bigger normie audience. it's literally just that.
>>
>>222322113
The more I saw of the Japanese and Chinese, the more it changed my worldview into thinking instability is good and necessary. A very high trust society is incredibly empty and unfulfilling to live in. They crave power, individuality, friends, love all...in their fantasies. Yet they are terrified of actually acquiring it. After all, those things need you to step up and take them, but how could you do that in a society that forces you to keep your head down and not bother anyone?
>>
>>222322819
akira movie was made by otomo himself
>>
>>222322113
It’s more because Hollywood isn’t interested in entertaining people. They are trying to push social agendas.
They “adapt” a fimiliar IP cause naming their movie “Kill whitey, end the patriarchy” wouldn’t sell tickets
>>
>>222322929
Okay schizo

Japan and China are different so many ways.
I feel like the west is much more collectivist than Japan if anything. Hollywood movies are so safe and full of remakes and adaptations while the Japanese keep making small but old school creator-driven original series and not dominated by 4 mega corporations.
>>
>>222322113
older anime adaptations used to take a lot of liberties (the way japanese live action TV shows and movies still do) but quite a lot of anime now are being made as loss leaders for a larger multimedia project and staying faithful to the source material has become a lot more important to the strategy.
>>
Japanese live-action adaptations usually aren't faithful to the originals at all, not because of their narccissm but because their budgets are too small to make them faithful. It can make some money because they are so cheap, and female fans of the male actors and some otaku fans of the original works would still watch or buy tickets in Japan. They are basically like B movies from the VHS era.

So I don't know what the hell he's talking about. Maybe op was just like ''hehe I found a dumb weeb on reddit so I should make a thread about this on /teevee/''
>>
>>222322113
that's not true. Studio Ghibli adaptation of The Wizard of Earthsea is an abomination that shits all over the source material. if those nips had any honor, every slit who worked on that movie would have committed sudoku.
>>
>>222322113
>is this why all modern adaptations (HotD, Witcher, RoP) are so shit?

No, they are shit because western writers are communists.
>>
>>222322258
It's not new writers, It's Nomuraslop which is even worse. Once you get it through your head it's not an FFVII remake but Final Fantasy VII Advent Children 2 things start making a lot more sense regarding this slop
>>
>>222322965
Not an argument
>>
What even makes the westerners think they are less colectivist than the Japs nowadays when almost every westoid listens to Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, watches the same Hollywood blockbusters and Netflix slop, has the same kinds of political views. and dresses pretty much the same?

they were never profitable, they also made profit with vhs/dvd/br or merchs and early on before the bublle crash they made tons of ova just out of passion

There is little difference between japan and the west when it comes to this crap, considering jap adaptations tend to be equally different from the source material.
There are two major differences that affect this shit though, and neither have anything to do with individualism/collectivism.
The vast majority of western entertainment made in the past 12+ years have been the product of extreme left-wing political propaganda, so everything, whether it's an adaptation, an original work, a remake or something that belongs to an existing franchise, it's going to be changed for political purposes.
The other issue is that jap shit is very insular, particularly if we're talking about anime/manga/LNs/video games and even some real life adaptations of those. It all belongs to the same vapid, soulless pop-cultural sphere, and share story-telling, archetypes and art styles between them (aside from the live action adaptations, of course, which are by their very nature the least faithful).

Any good new anime come out this year?

I keep getting reccomended stupid crap where some guy dies and goes to some video game fantasy world and kills everyone cause he's level 100 and stupid shit like that.
>>
it's just easier to make anime adaptations faithful to manga. they are similar things made by similar people. they are drawings.
it can't be like that when they adapt normal novels. live-action adaptations can't be like that, either.
>>
>>222323946
this one
>>
>>222322113
No, that's a retarded interpretation. Most recent movies or shows have sucked because they're made by committee which are influenced by various political interest groups, economic pressures, and other kinds of hedging and adjustments against various risk factors

went through 3body books recently
was really big in to dark tower series
....
sometimes only parts of the source material are amazing
other times you see retardation of the author cleanly
the issue is not that they are doing stuff to the original
the issue is that often what they are doing is also bad

Apples and oranges.
Japanese adaptations work as sort of an ad for a manga, book, or toys based on said work of art. Their cultural industry is completely different too. A manga (or a book) is something so cheap to create and distribute to the point there is enough diversity to aim at different groups like teenage boys, teenage girls, adults, education, collectors, etc.
Don't forget a book or manga is artisanal, sometimes involving just the author and the editor, assistants tend to come after some time.
Meanwhile, Hollywood is its own thing with its own rules, regulations, demands, and so on. Basically, they decide what and how to adapt. And since a movie or show is so big and expensive, its more of an industrial project with too many people involved.

so is most anime series.
>>
>>222324523
But not the work they adapt because a manga or book tends to be one or two dudes creating it.
