I assume between 2008 and 2012, along with the rest of Hollywood, when streaming and capeshit took over everything, they stopped making mid-budget movies due to the 2008 crash, and they stopped making dialogue-heavy movies in order to appeal to third worlders.
Also, modern dating has ruined romance movies for a lot of people due to dating apps, seeing women's hypergamous behavior, men having become pussies, etc.
