Atleast JP3 was homegrown hollywood slop and didn't ruin a great action novel (JP3 also atleast ripped a few scenes from the original JP novel that weren't in the film).
Sarah Harding is a coincidence right? I know people try to make her Dr. Harding's daughter, but that doesn't seem to match with Hammond's exposition bit.
>>222328498>Dr. HardingWho?
>>222327202JP3 was a rushed shitshow that had too much stiff competition the year it came out to make a dent, too weak of astory to be on par with the first two, Tea Leoni being too sexy as usual but having a dyke haircut, and a kid that managed to be more irritating and annoying than the black girl doing gymnastics running around drinking T-rex pee.

>>222328571JP3 had plenty of time to be made if they stuck to Grant living on the island studying dinosaurs story they were going to do. It works way better to have Grant their willingly and doing what Harding was doing in JP2. For some reason, they scrapped this in the last minute and redid the plot.

how could gennaro only be convinced if the investors are convinced the investors arent even there he is i dont get it it ruins the suspension of disbelif because it makes no sense and its a movie about fuckin dinosaurs
i want a real hard R reboot directed by someone good with practical effects
>>222331631Gennaro embodies the corporate greed that acts as a driving force for some of the chaos. Hammond's cutting corners also is a sign of this. All Gennaro gave a fuck about was money and its one of the only things he talks about, noting how they were going to make a fortune with the place instead of being in awe of seeing a dinosaur, how he was joking about there being a coupon day when he had all the intention of charging out the ass for people to come to the place, and the only thing he can think of when seeing Tim with the night vision goggles is how expensive they were. So when he became dino food while taking a shit, it felt deserved. Fuck lawyers.

>>222333107Shut up, faggot.
>>222325337The blond women in the movie kill 3. They are personality vacuums.
>>222329485Seems like it would have been a good idea to put the inn/lodge/visitor center on a hill close to the paddocks so it would be possible to see dinos from there, but maybe they were going to use what looks like a flat area between those and the jungle cruise to add new species or expand that area with the brachiosaurs, parasaurolophus, etc. once they bred more.
Did anyone ever actually read the book?
>>222335234I did, but I read back in middle school years ago, so I forgot most of it. Aside from them raiding the raptor's nest at the end.
>>222331631I always assumed it was an error in the script or acting. I think it was supposed to be "If I'm not convinced, they're not convinced" and it got reversed somewhere along the line. From his tone and context, he's threatening Hammond with closure if it doesn't go well, and saying the investors will believe him if he says the park isn't safe.
>>222335234river trex bazooka raptor
>>222335234I did thought the final battle with the raptors was fucking retarded. They should have killed Japanese scientist just like in the books. The computer scene was really good and a nice holy shit moment. Juvenile trex would have been cool too and how it kills the lawyer was creepy in the book.
>>222329999check'd
>>222335376>Juvenile trex would have been cool too and how it kills the lawyer was creepy in the book.Yeah that was great because it's described as this small and clueless thing but it's still like a 6 foot tall lizard and has just enough instincts that even though it's unserious and playful it has a bit of murder in there stillAnyways the book was very good, the worst part was how horrible the kids were
>>222335234Yeah I've read most of Crichton's novels, they are easy to read with good pacing and easy to visualize, which is why it boggles my mind how poorly they are constantly adapted. Jurassic Park was a pretty solid adaptation though although it went different for several characters and their fates. Also things in JP novel that weren't in the film got used later in the sequel films (like the beach girl intro in TLW, and a few things in JP3).Recently went through a few of his, they are great reads while waiting in doctor's waiting rooms and the like, so I've gotten back into them. Need to do JP again; recently did Congo, Timeline, Prey, and Next.>>222335376It doesn't kill the lawyer, Gennaro survives and was a cool dude in the novel. Ed Regis, one of the park administrators (who was kind of a douchebag), got killed by the juvenile. Gennaro's character especially got raped in the movie, but so did Muldoon getting jobbed like a tool, but that was at the height of Speilberg's gun hating days (was surprised Tembo was so likeable in The Lost World).>>222335502I liked the kids alright, but they were better in the film with their dynamic (book the girl was the little sister and she was a sporty tomboy always bitching about her Daryl Strawberry hat getting lost from what I remember).
>>222335376Oh, also Wu is Chinese. You should be able to recognize the difference between Japanese, Koreans, Chinese if you're on 4chan.
>>222335588Fuck me I saved that pic from 4chan almost 21 years ago.
>>222335565Eaters of the Dead is another good one from Crichton if you haven't read it. Good one to hit on a second pass through his works imo, after you've hit the obvious JP, Andromeda Strain, Sphere etc. The writing is a bit dry in the start, in part because it's written as a travel log by a medieval Muslim diplomat, but it picks up and hits his signature notes as an imaginative thriller.
>>222335565>I liked the kids alright, but they were better in the film with their dynamic (book the girl was the little sister and she was a sporty tomboy always bitching about her Daryl Strawberry hat getting lost from what I remember). She was ANNOYING. The boy was fine but holy shit the girl was horrible>>222335618So was this an actual machine? In another picture it looks like has machinery in it. Did it walk and move?
>>222335715It was, at the time of filming, the largest robot on earth. Yes, it could move, but when you see the animal or any of the animals walk or actively move their legs in the film, that's CGI. When you see close up shots of the head and such, that's the puppet. The scene involved lots of rain and took place in the dark in order to obscure the digital noise at the time, but all that water on the puppet caused it to move on its own and shake. It took the whole team whacking its hide with several towels in order to dry it off.
>>222335715>Daryl Strawberry hat getting lost
>>222335705You know, that might be the only one I have not read, but I actually love The 13th Warrior. I need to go to my local book store and look for it.>>222335782>Daryl!>Daryl!
>>222335759That's so cool. I guess they just took it apart. That would have been such a cool museum piece. Anyways re Chricton, I just read Congo and that was ok. The first 2/3 or so were pretty good but the last part was kind of dumb. Super un PC with all the african cannibalism primitive stuffIs his Lost World worth it?
>>222335870I think they reused it for the sequel and built another one for the female.
>>222335179>Clever girlThey took that line from Total Recall
>>222331631He was referring to Ian, grant, and elle. If they're not convinced.
>>222330268If someone sat down like this or kneeled when talking to me as a kid I instantly hated them for trying to manipulate me lol
>>222330646If you look closely this picture is hanging in the lobby at the end of the movie
Which dino in the novels would be the worst to be alone with or near to? I always liked the scene in the second JP novel where the kid is asleep in the vehicle and has a weird dream about a dino watching him then later it turns out it was one of the carnotaurs.
The press play/start movie on the og Jurassic Park DVD menu scared the ever loving shit out of me
>>222329737
>>222335565>Yeah I've read most of Crichton's novels, they are easy to read with good pacing and easy to visualizeIt's something I really like about his writing. Crichton was capable of delving into complex subject matter without getting bogged down in expository jargon, he presented intelligent content in simple and effective prose. It's a very rare ability that not many writer are capable of.
Be honest...How many of you anons here go full /nedry/ mode?
>>222327202>JP3 also atleast ripped a few scenes from the original JP novel that weren't in the filmAs did JW4: Tits and Dinosaurs. The river raft scene was one of the best scenes in the original novel and probably the best in Tits and Dinosaurs that didn't involve Scarlett Johansson's succulent tits. This is what makes it the second best of the JW series and 3rd best film in the overall franchise.

>>222335565>why it boggles my mind how poorly they are constantly adapted. Jurassic Park was a pretty solid adaptation thoughIt's because JP was designed as a screenplay first, then extended out into a novel, the retroactively made into a screenplay.
>>222343952>>222345122https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFuDk8PB1KUBasically prequel to Jurassic Park, more close to the books, with Maldoon working in the park with slow build up to the fuckery that happens in the book/movie.Great vibes and VHS works well here, making it feel more real.Great horror elements too.
