why do people still watch the simpsons? it's been garbage for the last 26 years
>>
>>222325602
It's only popular in Latin America
>>
I watched the very first UK airing of the Simpsons on Sky One in 1990 (and still have it recorded on VHS) and continued to watch every new episode religiously for years, however I haven't seen a single new episode since around 2008 which means I've only seen roughly only half the episodes ever made.
>>
>>222325602
which episode? i haven't watched any of the new ones

Mike Stoklasa also watches Modern Simpsons and loves it

when I was a kid, you could just turn on a tv and there was like 4 channels everyone got for free. all of it was pretty boring except the Simpsons which was probably the most edgy thing you could find. in comparison it was good at that time. cable tv did exist and was like 200 channels, but if you were poor the Simpsons was the best thing you could look forward too, or maybe the x files. you could get in with cable too.
then in 1998 south Park and family guy came around, which were way better and even more edgy and made the simpsons seem lame in comparison.
no idea who still watches it, but its still memed online and here

That VHS recording might be worthwhile in archival circles.

i've been watching the old episodes with commentary tracks and it's extremely comfy
>>
>>222325813
a lot of europe still really likes it, too
it's that and GTA that they use as their basis for whenever they comment on America
>>
I remember the humor changing in a bad way around '98-'99. I stopped watching then.
>>
>>222325813
They prefer to be called Latinx America*
>>

All those commentary tracks are great, I think Conan even had one for the Monorail episode
