The writers just couldn’t help themselves and blew their load in the second season or dialed the plot progression to an absolute crawl. I’m sure a lot of this is caused by too much supervision and input from the higher ups of the streaming platforms.

Has there ever been a slowly unfolding narrative show?Actually The Leftovers, whether you thought it was satisfying or not literally every weird thing is explained in the end and we get a conclusion as a result of the events in the story and it ends. No vague dumb bullshit or clifffhangers or nonsense.
>>222344939A slow narrative is okay, but you have to supplement SOMETHING in the space. Lost had good characters and good actors. Their backstories were super engaging, to the point you’d forget for a while there was a mystery going on. Modern shows have generic characters with cookie cutter dialogue and a slow, almost nonexistent, plot. Lost didn’t do anything but set a standard that shows refuse to even try to live up to.
