As for the philosophy behind the film, I'm pretty sure most people are aware of the fact that we're all capable of doing horrific things under certain conditions (the banality of evil, blah blah) - and I don't think the film expanded on this notion in a way that would cause people to be more conscientious in the event those adverse conditions arise in their own lives, so... what did the film really accomplish, other than giving intellectuals something to talk about?

And I just don't think a documentary that makes art out of the worst kind of atrocities is going to have an effect on people beyond "wow, that documentary was super interesting and visually stunning, and I can't wait to give my hot takes on it."
