>new serial killer in town
>Dexter starts stalking him
>spends weeks "learning" from him instead of stopping him
>gets way too emotionally invested
>puts everyone he cares about in danger
>someone innocent gets killed
>random cop gets too close to the truth
>has to die too
>Dexter finally kills the serial killer
>"I caused all of this."
>learns absolutely nothing
>does it all over again next season

People really can't get enough of this after 20 years, huh?
>>
People are still drinking Coca Cola after 140 years.
>>
k-kino…
also, don’t forget the seasonal love interest
>>

There is a reason a lot of people say only the first two seasons were good
>>
>>222346278
trinity was in season 4
>>
>>222346307
Trinity was overrated and had all the problems stated in the op's post, just another villain of the week
>>
>>222346336
yeah right cunt
>>
>debs character arc
>fucks guy obviously wrong for her
>repeat for 8 seasons
>>
>>222346336
Trinity was good thematically as it showed how Dexter could have ended up. The getting close to him and being incognito was also kino.

I lost interest after the black guy died.

Never seen a show jump the shark so many times. It's like they actively wanted to fuck up everything that made the first season so good.
>kill doakes off way too early
>made dexter get married
>made dexter have kids
>made deb in love with dexter
>>
>>222346209
This is literally growth and experience gathering.
Dexter wanted a friend, he wanted to know how a serial killer makes his family work, etc.
Nothing is repeated.
The original Dexter series is also kino btw.
Dont touch.

a handcuffed dexter getting the better of an armed doakes is the most retarded writing I've ever seen
>>
>>222346443
Dexter and LOST are prime examples of wasted potential in television, all the things they could have been
>>
>>222346397
Lundy was actually a good fit for her imo though he got blown away right as their relationship got a second chance so I guess moot point.
>>
>>222346209
They didn't really do this in Resurrection or New Blood, though.
>>
>>222348015
Kinda, he got Harrison in danger, Batista got smoked, just because he couldn't control himself to speedrun a buffet of serial killers
>>
>>222346209
I've never seen this show and can only recreate it from memes because I will never give it my time but it feels like it would be a long MOTW style show almost like the Diamond is Unbreakable season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure where every week a new type of serial killer shows up in town and Dexter has to identify and eliminate them
>>
>>222348129
>Harrison in danger
I forget how Harrison was endangered but I'm pretty sure Dexter attempted to get him to safety
>Batista got smoked
Dexter explicitly warned Batista to fuck off. This was entirely Batista's fault, not Dexter's.
>>
>>222346559
>Lundy was actually a good fit for her imo
she wanted a long term partner and lundy only wanted prime 20 yo strange while he was in town
>>
>>222348934
Yeah, that's why I referenced the second chance.
>>
Anyone else think the Liddy story was a million times more interesting than all the Lumen & Jordan Chase shit?
>>
>>222348882
>I forget how Harrison was endangered but I'm pretty sure Dexter attempted to get him to safety
I imagine he means with Prater discovering him.
>Dexter explicitly warned Batista to fuck off. This was entirely Batista's fault, not Dexter's.
The only thing that bothered me about Dexter Resurrection is they made no attempt to explain why exactly Angel became so convinced Dexter was the Bay Harbour Butcher or so gung ho about catching him. He didn't come across any significant evidence that suggested Dexter's guilt. He doesn't discover any long lost incriminating evidence, Dexter turning out to be alive doesn't suggest he was the BHB, nor does the circumstances of him murdering the Brain Surgeon. There's nothing alluded to at all that would explain Angel flipping his view on his friend so dramatically after all that time.
>>
>>222349051
I don't know if more interesting but Liddy actually felt like a tangible threat whereas I never suspected for a second that Chase was going to get the upper hand on Dexter.
>>
>>222349085
Finding out he was alive is pretty damning evidence he's the BHB. Nobody just fakes their death, normal people don't do that. The issue is they made him extremely retarded in the end. They're both imprisoned by Prater and Dexter could have killed him but instead frees him. Instead of temporarily putting away his retard rage and working with Dexter to take down Prater, which they both easily could have overpowered him and Charley, he attacks Dexter. It's retarded.
>>
>>222346492
Might I remind you of something that eclipses both: HEROES
>>
>>222349286
>Finding out he was alive is pretty damning evidence he's the BHB. Nobody just fakes their death, normal people don't do that.
Nobody was looking for the Bay Harbour Butcher and Dexter faking his own death can be attributed to the other crimes he's potentially wanted for at the end of the first series.
1) He aided his fugitive lover in escaping the country
2) He murdered an unarmed prisoner in revenge for his sister
3) Disconnecting his sister from life-support and then the unauthorised removal of her body

In addition he had already confided in Angel that he was leaving the police force because he was burned out. While it was implied both Angel and Quinn would cover for him with a self-defence charge it would still have an internal affairs investigation, it's likely he'd be facing questions at minimum for what happened with Deb, and he'd definitely be facing charges for aiding Hannah in evading capture.
It's far more plausible that after suffering a breakdown due to the death of his sister, which exacerbated an already mentally burned out mind, he opted to start over new rather than face any potential ramifications for the crimes Angel knows he committed.
The Angel we knew is far more likely to be stunned that Dexter is alive and want to reconnect with him rather than prosecute him for crimes that had been definitively tied to other people, with no new evidence to the contrary.

he doesn't do it in s2 and 3 either, I don't remember much about seasons 5-8 but I'm pretty sure he doesn't do it in 6 or 8, 7 I don't even know who the big bad was lol
Basically OP is complaining about 3 or 4 instances over 10 seasons acting like it's all of them
>>
>>222346336
Trinity is a great villan but S4 as a whole is overrated
It has some of the most memorable moments in the series but the middle of the season drags a lot and like every season post 2 it has shitty side characters subplots that are pure filler
If someone cut out the filler and trimmed out the middle part of the main plot too into 7 or 8 episodes it could be on par with the first two seasons as is it's closer to S3
