>Britain is so cucked, even in the 1980s, they called horror movies "video nasties"
lmao every day i learn some new embarrassing thing about this country
like not even shit like guinea pig, they genuinely thought possessing VHS of Evil Dead, Pet Sematary, Child's Play, Dawn of the Dead was a crime.
They were literally so terrified of tame r-rated horror movies they petitioned to have them banned, imagine being british lol

It's not a coincidence that when a bunch of brits left and founded a new country that the british empire fell and a new global empire from the new country was established

Shitskin retard, you realise this is a tongue-in-cheek term to refer to horror? Not a real terrible term? No matter which country you're from (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) your people are more censorship obsessed than we are even today. Retard.

two kids murdered a toddler mimicing that film you retarded fuckup
>>
>>222355992
The link between "Chuckie" (Chucky), child murder, and Liverpool kids refers to the widespread 1993 media moral panic claiming the horror movie Child's Play 3 inspired the murder of two-year-old toddler James Bulger.James Bulger was abducted from a shopping center in Bootle, Merseyside (near Liverpool) and brutally killed by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables

thus the newspaper
>>
>>222356025
>>222355992
Meanwhile, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables led the toddler far away from the mall and toward another town. Though many people on the streets believed that the three boys were siblings, others were concerned about Thompson and Venables’ aggressive behavior toward Bulger.

Some witnesses later reported that the older boys roughed up Bulger in plain sight, kicking, punching, and shaking him. While some adults stopped to ask the children a few questions, they all let the boys go on their way, apparently believing that Bulger was either being taken home or to the police station. Many of them would later express regret for not doing anything.

Thompson and Venables eventually arrived near a railway track in Walton. There, they splashed stolen blue paint into Bulger’s eyes. They then bludgeoned him with bricks and stones, kicked his battered body, and shoved batteries into his mouth. Finally, they hit Bulger over the head with a 22-pound iron bar. That blow alone caused 10 skull fractures.

Recent Parole Reviews: His last freedom bid was blocked by the UK Parole Board in December 2023 after officials ruled he remained a danger to children. Additional parole hearings and reviews have continued to be processed following referrals.Previous Offenses and Recalls: After serving his initial sentence for the 1993 murder of James Bulger, he was released on license, but was sent back to prison in 2010 and again in 2017 after being caught with indecent images of children on his computers.

the british media are utter cunts and will exploit any situation to get people to buy newspapers. "VIDEO NASTY" scared people and sold newspapers for a few months after a kid was murdered. they create a story to terrorise folk, then sell you the answers in a newspaper. nothing has changed, just now it's global terrorism and divisive politics

Yeah, us crazy Brits. The Americans on the other hand would never have stoked a ridiculous moral panic in the 1980s.
>>
>>222355196
I went down the list and watched all the nasties a few years ago amd realized the movies they banned weren't because they were so gruesome, but because they thought people might copy stuff in them. Like one of them was there because of a scene where a kid pushes another one in a river.

Yeah America would never do anything like flip out over cardboard and denouncing it as the work of some evil force.

Wait, why is Child's Play there? Some of the others I get because they're gory, but Child's Play is a fairly run-of-the-mill R-rated horror movie.
>>
>>222355196
Spiderman was not allowed to throw punches or break glass in the American animated series. All guns had to be laser guns.

>>222362698
To be fair Shogun Assassin is notoriously gory. Niggas be getting sliced to pieces, it's not a mere karate film.
>>
>>222360493
Not comparable. People complained about Last Temptation but the film was not banned. No government censor board decided certain scenes needed to be removed. We didn't need to wait 25-30 years to finally be allowed the option to legally purchase the uncut film in our country. We don't have an American Board of Film Censors making decisions like "trim four frames of Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face; the close-up is a little intense and might frighten the wee lads!"

Keep crying.
>>
>>222363206
>Spiderman was not allowed to throw punches or break glass in the American animated series. All guns had to be laser guns.
That was a show literally intended for five-year-olds, and that was a decision by the animation studio or by the network. The US government didn't watch more violent episodes and then force them to tone ot down. Meanwhile the English are such big babies they need their government to "protect" them from "dangerous" films intended for adults. "What if wee Johnny Bingleton watches his dad's tape of Evil Dead and becomes a badcrime nastyman?"
>>
>>222363710
I remember them cutting out the headbutting scene from The Matrix to get a 15 rating.

>Oi! We can't have 17 year old youth imitating this dangerous act blimey!
>>
>>222355196
As lame and fake looking as those movies are, movies before them barely showed blood let alone gore, so I can understand the shock and outrage.
>>
>>222355196
The Sun and Daily Mail were creating (moral) panic where there was none. The newspapers did it with rave culture and football hooliganism. Nobody on the UK streets were talking about any of these things. The younger generations would have laughed at this front page heading. The news outlets were appealing to the baby boomers; the very demographic that believed everything they read.

I suspect the headline in the image came out around 1994-ish -- triggered by the murder of Jamie Bulger -- as the original media outrage concerning ''video nasties'' occurred during the early to mid '80s. Once James Ferman (The director of the British Board of Film Classification) retired in 1999, practically all previously banned films were released uncut within 12 months of his departure. The Sun & Daily Mail never published a front page like this again.
>>
>>222355299
We live in a world full slaves that want to drag you down with chains as well. The people that rule over them are like you and me, except they are looking down at us trying to get away. it's just an obvious historical fact that britain didn't decline after 1776, you're the one that's coping
>>
>>222366778
The MPAA is a trade association retard, not a state censor board. They can slap you with an NC-17 and theaters/Walmart get scared, but they can't make the movie illegal to sell or order cuts by law.

BBFC literally had legal power because local councils and the Video Recordings Act made their certificates mandatory. That's why britbongs had to import bootlegs to watch some shit uncut while Americans could just buy it with a scarier sticker on the box. Huge difference.

>>222366266
There was a real panic. The behaviour of people generally has improved massively since the 1980s. I remember violence being an absolutely normal and expected part of daily life growing up in the 1980s. Read about football hooligans, gangs, etc. of the 1980s. The newspapers fed into this with bogus campaigns like the video nasties thing, but did so in a context of real concern about white working class people, urban youth, etc.
