It didn't start like that at first but once Craig leaned HARD into the absurd was when people started to take notice.I was always enchanted by Craig's charm but when he turned Late Night on it's fucking ear was when I was enamored.I never thought Conan would last 3 years based solely on his early seasons. They were pretty rough but an awkward blueprint was there and he succeeded the doubters.Craig silently became the last great Last Night host solely because the audience was looking elsewhere and those that happened on his playhouse realized something more was going on and continued to check back in.Craig got almost zero promotion from his own network. He was the "THEN CATCH CRAIG!" footnote after a long intro about David Letterman's guest line up.Looking back, it was brilliant how he succeeded and still went out on his own terms.
