I just watched this, I literally felt nothing, why is German cinema so soulless and cold?
Also this film is just so weird, how can it criticize the way you raise kids leads to disaster but then we look at the modern times and the way modern families raise their kids and its demonstrably and objectively much worse for society?

Feels like this film is so far up its arse and the fanboys as usual are blinded by their political bias. Not to mention that outside of its theme exploration the film has nothing going for it as its filmmaking tech is simply below average, i mean compare the cinematography here to something like Barry Lyndon, its a day and night gap.

Do /tv/ anons like this film?

You know the answer. They're not allowed to have emotions just in case they do a heckin' ethnic cleansing again. We must not allow that to happen!

Michael Hackeke =/= German cinema. He's not even German just like the painter.

Different styles completely. Haneke is minimalistic and is basically a Breason protege. Bresson did everything Haneke tries to do a thousand times better tho. I do like some Haneke films, but he is very hit or miss.
This one is just okay. It looks extremely good visually, I disagree with your implication there, but if you don't like the whole idea and appeal of a cold and detached aesthetic neither Bresson nor Haneke will do anything for you, well maybe some early Bresson.
Your criticism about the films' theme is stupid. There aren't only two ways to raise children you know. There weren't two ways to children back then either. Ridiculous anal retentive strictness does lead to retarded results, although not as much "muh nazies" as Haneke is implying, but the complete opposite. People like this grow up ridiculously neurotic and neuroticism leads to plenty of degenerate behaviour. You could even argue that liberal upbringing is the cause for zoomers becoming more conservative on average than the previous generation.
