It's the kind of plot that could have made sense if it was the second or third season and they were making a meta-commentary on some irrational sexist reaction to earlier seasons, but as the plot of the first season of a brand new show it just comes across as pathetic. There were plenty of good elements in the show, but overall it falls flat because the writers are just relentlessly seething at an audience reaction that never happened because the show was never seen before.

Good movies, like all forms of art, NEVER appeal "exclusively" to either men or women. They can definitely be geared towards one of the sexes, but if it's made "exclusively" for one of them, then it's nothing but the writers jerking off to being the sex they are and jerking off the audience for also being that sex. Any art that actually has value isn't made like this. The reason why men hate most things made for women now is BECAUSE they're made EXCLUSIVELY for women and therefore treat men like either dipshits or predators. It didn't used to be that way, this is a sickness of modernity. Take a movie like A League of Their Own. It's about a female baseball team proving their worth in a world that doesn't take them seriously. If it were written today, the women would be flawless and the men would have nothing but flaws, but it wasn't written today. The male characters aren't idiots, and the female characters aren't perfect. They actually have things to learn from each other, if you can believe it. You would only ever claim something geared towards women is "made exclusively for women" if you're trying to make it immune to criticism, which is something you'd only ever do if you know that it's shit.
