This is so crazy because what the fuck does a person born in 1997 have in common with a person born in 2012? Just like what does a person born in 1996 have in common with a person born in 1982? People born in 1996 and 1997 are one year apart, and yet, according to this, they each have more in common with someone born fourteen to fifteen years older or younger than them. Nolan movies are completely inhuman and feel like someone who has no understanding of human behavior trying to make a movie that humans will enjoy. It's especially bad when he tries to be cute or funny. He's basically the Mark Zuckerberg of film directors. Everything he does makes my skin crawl and it amazes me that not everybody hates him. Kubrick, on the other hand, is responsible for some of the worst acting that I have ever seen, even from great actors, and that's largely due to his seething hatred of actors as a class of people. You can't get good results when you hate the people you're working with to, hopefully, create something good. He didn't waste miles of film because he was a perfectionist, he did it because he wanted to wear his actors down, which is why the performances he gets usually have this weird, shitty Mel Brooks-style vaudeville comedy vibe to them, which usually clashes with the tone his movies seem to be going for, and really only worked on a Clockwork Orange - his best technical film. But he's a good photographer and is great at mood and ambience when it doesn't involve any real acting. The thing is, Kubric's films can be enjoyable and Nolan's films are just awful all-around.
