>considered by its fans to be the best live action Nick show ever made>critics loved it>it's even considered a show you don't even need to have nostalgia for to fall in love with>yet it wasn't even the most popular live action Nick show when it was airing new episodesWhy were stuff like Clarissa Explains It All (which was towards the end of its run in new episodes when Pete and Pete premiered as a full series), Are You Afraid of the Dark, All That and The Secret World of Alex Mack more mainstream than Pete and Pete if Pete and Pete is usually considered a better show than all of those ones? The show was still a popular one, but it never was as mainstream as the ones I mentioned.
>>222452278I've even seen people say it's the only live action Nick sitcom that holds up and yet, it wasn't even the most popular one when it was at its peak of popularity.

I much preferred Clarissa cause MJH was hot and I liked the segments when she solved the episodes problem with video game graphics
>>222452312>All That was betterExpound on your claim.
The show is underrated even though it aired in a mainstream channel kinda like radiohead and pink Floyd are famous but not appreciated by everyone.
Blake holsey high was a sci fi mystery show that was similar in vein to Alex Mack. Very cool and Saturday morning kino.
>>222452542I don't think Blake Holsey High was on Nickelodeon.
>>222452312What made All That a better show? That's a show I've seen people say you had to be a kid to enjoy it, while Pete and Pete it doesn't matter what age you are, you can get something out of it. It was a kids show, but a kids show that wanted to also appeal to people of any age. It was a unique sitcom.
>>222452596It wasnt but it captured the essence of a fun kid's mystery while being entertaining as well. Same way Pete and Pete capture oddball adventures and quirky characters.

From what I remember there weren't that many epsisodes so it didn't get rerun as often as other Nick shows. I think it only came on once a week. It was my favorite show that wasn't a cartoon, but I barely remember getting to watch it all that often. Pretty sure it wasn't on that afternoon block with Salute Your Shorts or anything.
>>222458937Yeah, it usually was only on the weekends. Occasionally it would air on a random weekday during Nick in the Afternoon with Stick Stickly, but it never had a regular 5 day weekday slot like Clarissa Explains It All, Salute Your Shorts (which had 26 episodes, less than Pete and Pete), Are You Afraid of the Dark, Alex Mack or All That had when it comes to shows that had new episodes during Pete and Pete's run. Also, Legends of the Hidden Temple, but that show was sort of created for weekdays since it went to weekdays very soon after it premiered like 6 or less months.
>>222458703Somehow I remembered all the lyrics to that before clicking on it, haven't thought about the show in forever.
>>222452278I'd be surprised if anyone preferred Disney Channel over Nickelodeon in the 90s considering not only did you have to pay extra just to get Disney Channel meaning it was for rich kids, but also Disney Channel was so meh. It was very bland and it was mostly just reruns anyway aside from a few preschool original series and a few other bland originals. Nickelodeon had a lot more fun and creativity to it.
>>222459309Yeah, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network had a big head start over Disney. I remember my little brother watched it, but I was a bit too old for it by that time. I'm sure plenty of kids grew up loving As Told By Ginger, but that came years after the real Saturday Morning Cartoon era.
nick had so many good shows from the 80s through 90s until that faggot sponge ruined it forever
>>222459432Revisionist history. I never watched Spongebob, but I remember how crap a lot of Nickelodeon shows were before Spongebob turned the network around. I sure as hell wasn't watching Catdog and Rocket Power.
>>222459432Unfortunately, Nick was already going downhill before the Sponge started invading the schedule. SpongeBob didn't even start airing everyday until July 2001. Around 2000, Nick doubled Rugrats' weekday slots from two slots to four and the channel was losing variety as well. If SpongeBob didn't exist, Nick would've probably just spammed more Rugrats.
I remember it was hard as fuck to find shows in the 90s with switching timeslots, sports, and abrupt cancelations.

>>222452348It was really weird seeing his actor in Blonde as Monroe's makeup artist.
>>222452278Something interesting about Nickelodeon back then is you'd expect their weekday lineup to mainly consist of original series since even by 1994, they had plenty of original series on their lineup, several of which had either ended or were created for weekdays specifically by then. Back then to get on weekdays you had to either be made with weekdays in mind, have ended or made it to 65 episodes. However, most of Nick's weekday lineup was syndicated reruns. Even in 1994, Nick's weekday lineup while it had stuff like Doug and Rugrats and Clarissa Explains It All, it also aired shows like Rocky and Bullwinkle and Looney Tunes. Even in 1997 it was mostly syndicated stuff. Tiny Toon Adventures was a pretty big part of Nick at one point, despite it already ending by the time it came to Nick.
>>222452278I liked Pete and Pete as a kid but appreciate it way more as an adult, I could see why literal children wouldn't have loved it
>>222452296>>222452361it was like proto philosophy packaged for early teens. I recently watched pete and pete and it's still good and the messages are still relevant. I started rewatching are you afraid of the dark and even though it's still entertaining i got bored after like 3 seasons. I would never go back and watch something like all that or salute your shorts now though.

>>222463468MadTV was an ok show during a time when SNL had nothing good going for it. Earlier SNL was funnier and even later SNL had things like The Lonely Island, but for a time MadTV was the better show.
>>222463512Guess it depends on how old you were at the time. I’m around the same age as Danny Tamberelli and I could certainly discern the difference in quality and craftsmanship behind Pete & Pete compared to cheap looking kids sitcoms of the era.

>>222452278Late 1998-mid 1999 is when Nick shifted into the Y2K Era (SpongeBob, Thornberrys, CatDog, Rocket Power) and got rid of so many of their pre-Hey Arnold shows, even in reruns: Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Pete and Pete, Clarissa Explains It All, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Nick Arcade, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Are You Afraid of the Dark, etc. This may be why a lot of younger Millennials haven't heard of these shows.

>>222469813Whether its still funny or enjoyable or not still is kinda left to opinion though. There are stupid episodes, it could be boring to modern people. Today people have a lot of garbage in their head and cant focus or engage with anything
>>222467615That's true and surprisingly, even Angry Beavers was removed not long after those shows. Well, Angry Beavers was removed from their regular lineup in 2001, but still. I will say Are You Afraid of the Dark was still on until 2000, because it had new episodes again during 1999-2000.
>>222471159The reason I say surprisingly Angry Beavers is because that came out after Hey Arnold. I've looked at old Nick schedules (thanks to Nickstory) and while Angry Beavers still aired sometimes after 2001, it was mostly gone after 2001. It wasn't even on for that long either. I think only like 4 years on the regular lineup.

>Alex Mack ends because the lead actress turned down Season 5 and a movie deal in favor of finishing school>Show actually gets a proper series finale instead of being trapped in a loop of reruns that go nowhere, but still teases a continuation just in case>Rights for the show have since become so scattered between multiple companies that it's impossible to even get it on a streaming service, let alone do new things with itSometimes, being a fan of this show comes with mixed blessings.

OP, the only thing that popped in my head was…. It was punk rock. I loved Nirvana so it was right up my alley. Like…. Idk how to explain it. I was a boy in the 90s with a little brother so I could totally relate. But yeah idk man…. This show is SO fucking good. Supposedly there was a partial 3rd season that was filmed that’s locked away in warehouse somewhere… or am I thinking of Salute your shorts… which never had any physical releases. Anyway, as much as I love both those shows…. They kinda make me sad at the same time. Like…. Melancholy might be the closest word I can use to describe the feeling. Being 40 sucks
>>222453477whoa whoa whoa......what are you talking about? There actually was a season 3 physical release? or....did it just air on tv?
>>222453560I really dont like how the way little pete turned out looking...a rebbot would be almost impossible. Also i just found out recently he voiced the character of that dudes son in GTAwhats big pete been up to?
>>222456195it was Husky....get it right or pay the price.
>>222458703True! but.... the cool thing about pete and pete was they had a whole dedicated band that made music for them. They are actually pretty good ngl, i used to listen to this full album all the time.
>>222483290Forgot to post pic
>>222452312It was just SNL for kids
>>222483354Looking into it a bit more, apparently it was on the nick website at some point with the soundtrack removed, and that's what's floating around these days.
>>222483386Danny Tamberelli is Big Pete now
think we all know what magnetic fields track is actually best…https://youtu.be/u-8_VZcDc7I
>>222483620aaaah yeah i think i remember reading something about how the budget for music and "big" artists like rock stars that had cameos was drastically cut. man.....I have never seen that but would fucking love to. I don't know about torenting or anything like that. I assume if someone uploads it on youtube it would be taken down? but why who gives a fuck
the world we grew up in no longer exists
>>222481862Man, that guy has a pretty distinct face. Nothing wrong with it, just distinct.
>>222452278I still find it crazy that Nick reran stuff like Lassie and Flipper in the 90s.
>>222481862Cousin Skeeter was way after all those shows. That's very late 90s bordering on 2000s slightly since it was late 1998.
>>222480475I tend to forget that You Can't Do That on Television apparently had regular reruns til 1994, but in its last years I think it was only on either saturday or sunday. Maybe both, but I wanna say last I checked it was only one of those two days.
>>222452278It often was the first live action show after a long block of cartoons that started in the morning and ended late in the afternoon. So naturally, it was a difficult transition for Nick's audience. As a kid, it was basically a sign to turn off the tv and go to bed or do something else.
>>222485771I remember when nick would play i dream of Jeannie and bewitched and taxi. George Lopez show still feels contemporary to me. He has had two shows since then. Flabbergasting.
One of the Pete's was in Slackers
>>222467769Better than alright. It's underrated and 100% worth seeing.
>>222485916Was he in an eve 6 music video or am I thinking of someone else?
>ctrl + f space cases>0 results bitches don't know about my prototype farscape and firefly
>>222486653Space Cases kind of came and went it feels. Even if you include reruns, it was only on for two years from 1996 to March 1998.
>>222486653>>222486927For a while, Nick was trying to make the next Alex Mack, but most of them didn't really find the same success and vanished fast. Then they gave up and focused solely on kid sitcoms.
>>222479701>>222479767>>222479811>>222479814If you like Magnetic Fields, listen to The Divine Comedy.
>>222473511Didn't someone have a giant metal plate in their head?
>>222486653blake's 7 is "prototype farscape and firefly."
>>222452278As a PSA to the thread, most of the episodes are up on youtube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krEcLuXhFn0
>>222452278It's overhyped. The song is good tho
>>222487913Songs, plural. Polaris acted as the 'house band' so to speak and provided several great songs for the show. I actually find it similar to how The Pillows provided the soundtrack for FLCL.
>>222487894ty anonis this worth showing to kids now, what age is good, any? i remember being hella little when this was on
>>222482432
>>222463504Based
>>222487894holy shit this episode is anti-vax ahahhahahahaha preddit would lose its mind
>>222488099It’s an Oppenheimer parody, anon.
>>222453560Not remotely surprising.
>>222482354Kids don't need Jews to like black music. I liked Stevie Wonder when I was 6 and bought Mix-a-Lot's Swass on cassette when I was 10. You act like if it weren't for Jews TV would have been nothing but white people. Jews ARE white. And only a moron would ignore all the other demographics. You schizos are so retarded. It's so tiresome seeing all your bullshit posts every day.
>>222483408
>>222483570Yet not ever funny.
>>222474486Based Stu and his love of a black woman.
>>222464066>Salute your shorts>Pete and PeteAnd if you count it>You can’t do that on televisionWe’re all s tier live action nick shows
>>222488152whats funny is if you left out>jews are whiteyou would've convinced someone.
>>222483809It's on the internet archive. Season 3 is ripped from TV tho so the quality isn't as good. I believe it was AI upscaled
artie was the voice of kahn on king of the hill
>>222488209lol, if you need to be told someone is not white then they're white. Sorry, I don't make the rules. You can reference "early life" all you want and make sure everyone here is informed that so-and-so is Jewish, but no one fucking cares. We just see them as white people. So do you. You're just fronting that you're some strict anti-jew bigot. You don't avoid movies with jew involvement because you'd be left with nothing. You're a fucking retard. All of you are. Too much time online. Not enough friends or sex.
hey smilin' strange
>>2224881196 mins in, go re-watch lmao they blame the vaxxx for getting everyone sickalso flu vaxx in summer is hilarious
>>222488026It's fine to show to kids. I'd say from about 7-8 or so on up is fine, but I'm no expert.
>>222488099Everyone involved in that show had their kids vaccinated and there was no Measles in the United States. You fucking morons were broken by covid. If not you were even dumber and broken by Jenny McCarthy. Vaccines save lives. Except when they KILL YOU. Of course that's always two weeks away. I had six boosters and I'm fine.
>>222488277no one needs to be told jews aren't white. jews need to move heaven and earth to pass for white.
>>222488544Weird, i had 0 vaccinations and im also fineStrange how we all just decided covid wasnt a thing anymore
>>222488564You know that's not true. I never knew Natalie Portman was Jewish until someone on this sewer of a forum disclosed it. I bet you think you can "spot them" by looking. You cannot. You're posting in bad faith here.
>>222488788I don't care about covid. I care about the retards keeping their kids from the MMR right now because they're so fucking stupid.Thankfully you'll never procreate.
>>222488544the covid shots weren't vaccines until they changed the definition of vaccine to include a theoretical description of the covid shot. none of the shit you got did anything about your ability to contract covid. the duration wasn't shortened.
>>222488795>I never knewYou being an idiot isn't an argument.
>>222488271No fucking way?!
>>222488830That may or may not be true. But I suffered no downside and neither did anyone else. Again, this has nothing to do with retarded hicks keeping their kids from Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. You're missing the point. You're all just generally anti-vaccine now because you're too fucking stupid. Condolences.
>>222488152Black box, technotronic, sonique and sade for me.
>>222488877calling bullshit "a vaccine" definitely contributed to "retarded hicks" refusing actual vaccines.
>>222488849You didn't know either. Because it's not apparent. No one in the world can pick a jew by sight. The fact that you research that about people just shows how stupid and hateful you are. Jews have no bearing on your life whatsoever. This is all in your conspiratard mind.
>>222487314Milla jovovich album?
>>222488898Don't project your stupidity onto others.
>joos>vaxxThis fucking thread is ruined now. EVERY FUCKING TIME. Schizo virgin pieces of shit.
>>222488930it was fun for quite a while reallyall things must come to an end
>>222488953It really doesn't. You can just ignore them.
>>222488271artie had a lot of small roles. not enough to be "that guy" but i'd chuckle every time I saw him.
>>222453560>It's simple, we eat the Pete & Pete
>>222487965Love the pillows
>>222452278>considered by its fans to be the best live action Nick show ever madeNot when Drake and Josh, Ned's Declassified, and iCarly exist.
>>222472403It is good, Bob. Good and frosty.
