Its sad that the crazy filmmaking filming style of Landis ultimately killed his career. He definitely had a strong vision
>Dan Aykroyd lost it at one point during shooting on the Paramount lot. In full "Conehead" attire, the actor threw a mega screaming fit at the studio's Melrose Avenue gate after his personal wardrobe person was reprimanded by a security guard for busting the lot's 8-mile-an-hour speed limit. Aykroyd was so peeved after the incident - and after hearing that one of his production assistants was given a hard time when he tried to enter the lot late one night - that he burst into the guard station and trashed it. He threw everything on the floor, pulled one of the phones out of the wall, threw papers, knocked the computer on the floor and held the button down on the wooden arm (that lets the cars in) and started motioning incoming cars to 'please come right in ... welcome to Paramount Pictures.' A female security guard witnessing the incident got so upset that she hyperventilated and had to go to the lot's infirmary. At one point during his tirade, Aykroyd commandeered one of the studio's golf carts and drove around screaming and cursing.

They created the characters in the 70's and you could get away with almost anything *except* wearing a suit and tie. That was the joke. The cut of the suits was also very much out of fashion at that time. The lapels were much too small.>>222487942>>222489573Not quite. Candy would have played Rick Moranis's role. He was the original choice, although I think Moranis fucking nailed it. In a film filled with great portrayals he stole several scenes.Eddie Murphy was planned to star in an early version. Hudson said that was the script he read for. He claimed the role was cut down a lot by the time filming started. Aykroyd downplayed that and said the original plan was for three Ghostbusters, with Murphy taking Balushi's role. When he dropped out Murray made the role his own. The 4th ghostbuster was added to be an audience surrogate. Someone to ask the questions and receive exposition. That was the role Hudson read for and it was cut down for time and flow reasons. Might also have gotten Reginald VelJohnson as Winston. He read for the part also and got cast as a jail guard.>>222488203Aykroyd had great ideas but can't write scripts. You get this great shot of Jake coming out of this ethereal light and really it would be a massive lightbank with a scrim in front of it. He would have been roasting under all that heat from the lights.
>>222505068What are you, offended on behalf of the crew of community?
>>222480041It's literally an snl comedy skit you fucking retard.
>>222505068He is at least a medium talent and you are probably just not smart enough to get him.
>>222505767Calm down, Chevy.
>>222501311Bullshit, the last couple blues brothers threads have done just fune
>>222505068Fletch is a cinematic masterpiece and Chevy hits it out of the park.
>>222506871Isn't a bit late for you to be shitposting on /tv/ Chevy?
>>222507865I'm Chevy Chase an you're not.
>>222480041>looks and acts like a dork in sunglassesthey are though
>>222480061I don't think that's a hot take, anon.
>>222488442Kinski would be proud.
>>222495652Luckily the reigned in his ideas too. Apparently the version he really want to perform and have on the soundtrack was the shitty disco version he made of the song but production pushed back hard to have it be a classic big bang version (which he called old fashioned and shitty). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvzMAFraMEA
>>222506871Based. Chevy may be a dick as a person but Fletch is undeniable kino and probably his all time best movie.
>>222479798How often does the train go by? So often you won't even notice it.
>>222504889Millennial here. I saw so many great movies on cable growing it. This came out before I was born and Belushi died before I was born but I grew up loving the Blues Brothers, Animal House, Ghostbusters, Caddy Shake, Stripes, Trading Places, old episodes of SNL and SCTV. All those guys stuff. Tape rental was also huge.We grew up watching generations of old school media that Zoomers couldn't find in the flood of bullshit that came after. They were being born right as that era was ending (1997) and the internet was raising. You then had that magical period before Facebook (2004), Twitter (2006) or Eric Schmidt stepped down as CEO of Google (2011). By the time the oldest Zoomers were 10 years old it was all falling apart. Blockbuster Video peaked in 2004 and was out of business by 2014. The economy went tits up in 2008. Hollywood Video went under in 2010. The last Zoomers weren't even born until 2012. Their media was whatever the Axis of Evil (Facebook, Twitter, Google) decided to show them. They don't remember the physical media era. When there were a dozen major Hollywood studios and even more TV studios making content. When you could make a 'little' movie for 10-30 million and not have to worry about making it all back on opening weekend because the long tail of tape/DVD sales would allow it to turn a profit. When reality TV was just a little genre of MTV bullshit and glorified gameshows. Not literally every fucking thing on television. Where they would take risks, push boundaries, make weird little TV shows. Now, fuck man, if it doesn't do numbers in China they aren't making it.
>>222479798"It wasn't a lie, it was just bullshit"
>>222510121Based, I had the same experience. I loved Blues Brothers, Ghosbusters and Trading Places when I was growing up. Blockbuster was still around so I'd also get to just rent whatever had a cool cover but my parents would pick the other main movies, I was pretty much never disappointed.
>>222505379John Landis may be a murderer but by god is he a great director.
>>222510205I was thinking just the other day after watching some scenes how amazing some shots were of things, it was even of things that don't really appear in movies anymore like stuff that sets the scene or location.
>>222505185>>222504861>>222504864>>222504853You queer fucks will never not stick out like a sore thumb covered in shit.
