Anyone who asks this question needs to watch the animated movie, 'Green Lantern: First Flight' (2009).

Goes from test pilot origin to bad cop/good cop shit with Sinestro to saving the entire Corps, the Guardians, and the entire universe. With plenty of time to flesh out core characters, (no pun intended), have Hal show he's a genuine hero with and without the ring, and is chock full of wall-to-wall imaginative ring-slinging action, (from the most basic use, up to epic planet-crushing cosmic level), all in the space of 77 minutes, (much shorter than the crappy Ryan Reynolds version), including pretty cool credits to boot.

Not only does Blackest Night require the prior introduction and development of the entire Lantern Corps and emotional spectrum cosmology, the story was also largely reliant on DC having a long history of characters dying and being resurrected, and also on having a lot of characters that were dead at the time and could appear as zombies. It just inevitably needs a fucking lot of setup. If DC had a long and structured cinematic universe like Marvel's, Blackest Night could be the climax of phase 4 or something.

That's way too much to ask. The Green Lantern Corps itself isn't an easy concept to communicate to normies who have never heard of it, to say nothing of the myriad other keystones to such a story.
As other anons ITT have pointed out MCU fans can accept a lot of crazy shit at this point from having followed the stories from a relatively simple beginning to really wild stories like Deadpool & Wolverine which would confuse the hell out of anyone going in blind, but that takes YEARS of dedication.

But saying it can't be done is like saying you can't make the original 'Star Wars' because you have to introduce the Empire, the Rebels, the Clone Wars, show how Darth Vader became who he is, why there is a "flaw" in the Death Star, etc.

You never needed any of that shit. Most of the best films drop you right into the deep end of their fictional universe and you pick up on that shit without them ever overtly explaining it. The Star Wars universe having a long history before you see Luke starting 'just another day' in his farm boy life is a feature, not a bug.
I remember reading 'A Clockwork Orange'. You don't have their slang ever explained to you, but you don't get far in before you know it and can speak it fluently, even though you didn't notice, but your brain did.

It's what books, comics, movies, and kino of all media are SUPPOSED to fucking do. Communicate incalculable metric tonnes of shit in multiple ways, verbal, non-verbal, sub textual, facial expressions, characters reacting to one another, etc, etc. 'Show don't tell' is the simplified way to say it that people still take too one-dimensionally. But a truly good story/film is shovelling so much information through such a small bandwidth it's fucking unreal, and you don't even know it. You don't have to even think about it. It doesn't even feel like an effort of any kind.

Which is to say that you can tell just about any story and get a 'good film' if you do it right, whether that requires flashbacks, clever exposition, or surgical jettisoning of otherwise good shit. It can be done, and don't let the time-wasting fucking amateurs tell you otherwise. The same fucks who are happy to watch characters waste screen time walking around in the desert doing literally fuck all for no good reason, when you can provably build an entire original lived-in alien world in under two hours.
