I sometimes miss my deli/seafood job. It was a lot of work when it came to cleaning but it was so low effort it didn't really feel like work even on the busy days.

>>222493544That's a fucking young man's game, the only way an old guy with a beat up body survives working construction is with a lifetime's worth of knowledge and expertise and experience, it's not something you can just "pick up" in your 40's and go out there humping it with a bunch of 20-somethings when you have no background and no aptitude for it. Even if you're young and strong, or even when you have experience and aptitude, construction is one of the worst jobs you can have if you're trying to AVOID injuries, or if you already HAVE a bunch of old injuries and you're trying not to reaggravate them.Plus, one other thing about construction jobs that you might not realize is that unless you own the company you work for, the foreman of any crew you join is highly likely to be a fucking mean, stupid, belligerent bastard with a John Wayne complex who thinks he's a drill instructor and it's his job to bark like a dog behind a fence all day at his crew. Other than construction foreman, the only two jobs more likely to be held by an insufferable fucking dickhead would be band teachers and cops. Don't get me wrong, grocery store managers tend to be stupid pricks too, but definitely not the same level of intensity as foreman.
