The surviror years on the frozen planet, the Helion I scenario, indulging in Riddick's past, the Necromonger invasion/war, Crematoria prison and Kyra's story, and then the build-up towards the final resolution with the Necromongers. It would have made a lot of sense to give space and weight to all these in a larger manner with at least a duology.
