What makes south korean films so good?
>>222504388South Korean movies in general suck pretty bad. People think their movies are good, because they have a fluke every 10 years. The last fluke was Parasite, so expect another one in 2029.

Very confident, sleek control of style always impresses people. But SFMV has better human drama/thrills. They're in a mini-crisis now: rising budgets, fewer hits, the wave (not the astroturfed Kpop/streaming) peaked <10yrs ago.)

they used french cinematographic techniques and avoid american ones mostly. but that is changing. netflix destroyed korean filmmaking, it used to be master apprentice and it took forever for someone to be good enough to be given a shot at the international festivals, now it's just a feeding frenzy with low quality zombie crap and cgi/ai spooky ghost shlock.
