Jesus was a Jew too. He decided to try and claim the Messiah title, which was a sacred legendary title that means "king of the Jews". But the Jewish theocracy at the time disagreed. He did not relent and continued lead a small mutiny trying to crown himself as the Messiah, so they just reported him to the Roman jannies who killed him. But the few Jews that followed him later went around the Roman empire for centuries converting the nobility until the Romans themselves decided to uphold his claims to being the Messiah, the son of Yahweh, etc and basically converted all of Europe to this Jew offshoot religion.
