I don't understand this movie. When I watched it, it seemed like a genuinely intelligent, nuanced take on race relations and interracial crime, then I heard the Spike Lee interviews about how the Italians were all just evil pieces of shit and the riot was all 100% justified. Either Spike Lee lied about writing it, or it truly is possible to make a good movie by accident.
