>"Big companies will just buy the competition, that's why capitalism doesn't work"
>A company actually did it and acquires a bunch of big names
>They are so awful with them disney ends up ruining one of the most successful IPs in america's history
>the big company buying everyhing loses so much money now it can't do that anymore
Commies are retarded.

If you suck ass, you suck ass.

we need to finally dropp copyright/IP law (created to 'protect' companies from printing presses, similar to how you can copy and paste a file today).

you can still pay workers for their actual work. if technology renders a job obsolete, oh well. you no longer need scribes to copy books for you. you no longer need ice deliveries when you have a refrigerator, or coal deliveries when you have central heating. those jobs are gone.

they probably didn't see AI coming, but there WAS a whole scene of Star Wars fan films, some of them were fairly decent. now imagine those same people with access to AI tools and unrestricted access to the Star Wars universe. just make that what 'Star Wars' is.

>be Disney
>have the girl market CORNERED but realize you have literally nothing that appeals to boys
>buy Marvel Entertainment to get the biggest up and coming thing for boys, the MCU
>slowly make it more and more focused on women
>movies stop making money
>buy Lucasfilm to get the longest standing most popular thing for boys, Star Wars
>immediately make it all about women
>movies almost immediately stop making money
>tfw

It is not necessary, we need to shorten the time Intellectual property goes public.

On average the profitability of successful IPs is the first 20 years, so instead of waiting 70 or 100 you keep the same incentive with a bunch of decades.

stop hiring women.

yeah 20 years would be about right.

although, the world has changed because it's less like media is ephemerally 'published' where you go buy it there and then (hardback copy of a book, film at the cinema). now it sticks around, usually available on a web server in some fashion.

it's nerd/commie stuff but i agree with Richard Stallman that we could have some sort of 'Internet Sharing License':
https://stallman.org/articles/internet-sharing-license.en.html

tl;dr: we pay a flat fee to our ISPs (a few dollars), it gets distributed to content creators proportionally, on a curve. no other costs/subscriptions, no ads.

>we have 4 decades worth of lore to draw from? let's just nuke it all LOL

I think that would end up being ecploited by contebt creators somehow to get free money.

yeah the obvious flaw is making it measurable in a consistent way, like you could easily artificially inflate YouTube views or just say 'my art website got 100,000,000 hits last month.'

and people would bitch that any money of theirs goes to Mr Beast, but that's the clever thing about the 'cube root' model: earnings ramp up quickly for small creators, then they barely increase for the millionaires. i can stomach a few of my pennies going to [mainstream thing] because that effectively happens anyway.

women.

"AI" companies committed the greastest act of IP theft, and book destruction the world has ever known. They've burned the equivalent of the fucking library of alexandria thrice.

Right now IP is effectively worthless because of LLMs and how they can and do shit out stolen material on a whim. Want to know something else? You can get it to spit out almost any piece of work that it's been trained on.
>>
>>222512665
The majority of "little creators" is slop meant to sell for pennies, that's why you'd end up with fueling a market made of scams.
