Why has there never been a film about heavy metal subculture? There are one million punk culture films despite that being a much, much smaller subculture.
>>
Metal: A Headbanger's Journey from 2005 is what you're looking for i guess.

Lords of chaos
Heavy trip

Metal just isn't cool . Sorry
>>
>>222512545
Punk is jewish
Metal is white
>>
the only good metal is European power metal about dragons and Tolkien and shit. the kind that actually has melodies instead of just a dude going ROOOOAR and thrashing.
>>
>>222512545
Fat dweebs who hate their dad and homework aren't a very interesting subject.

Most metalheads were and are gay liberal losers who were angry at their parents for being squares

Also The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years .. if you’re into hair/glam metal ( though it also has ozzy, lemmy, kiss)

Not as good as her first doc on punk, but interesting. (She later directed Wayne’s world)

>>222512834
good. i can't think of anything more insufferable than
>brooo my metal is WAY HARDER than urs haha now let's MOSH with NO SAFEWORDS

give me gay pop music any day.
>>
Powe metal is gay.
Black metal is giga gay.
Death metal, nu metal, gay gay gay gay.
For some reason metal heads like to larp as satanists when all the early "metal" rock bands were Christians. Only classic "metal" is good and even then it's just heavy rock.
>>
>>222512545
Any serial killer documentary or movie about drug addicts is a sludge metal movie.
>>
>>222512872

broooooo you don’t understand! Pretending to be demon worshiping Satanists, shaving our heads, and groaning into a mic like we’re possessed by a bear is actually the highest form of art and equivalent to Beethoven or Bach!
>>
>>222512907
Christians just have a stronger emotional core that they can channel into music.
it's why The Smiths comes across as whiny, but Flyleaf feels hard-hitting. it's not just 'my dad abused me': it's 'my dad abused me and it led me to a crisis of faith'. you feel that conflict in the music itself.
meanwhile Morrisey has had no actual problems in his life. a bus was late once, or something. doo-doo-doo~
>>
>>222512995
they don't SAY this but they ACT this way.
there's also a lot of false modesty, i guess you could call it.
>We're actually pretty chill, the metal community are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. We're an ALTERNATIVE to mainstream music scenes about drugs and fights.
...and then they all take drugs and love fights. they're only friendly to other hardcore metalheads, they are not welcoming.

i've given it a try, many, many times. the music isn't for me. the scene isn't for me. i'm quite happy to never interact with metalheads ever again.

Germany has the reputation, but the best power metal is American, Brazilian, or Swedish.
maybe Italian if you’re into that sort of thing
>>
>>222512866
first one is good, because it's raw and brutal
second one is more civilized and boring
interviews with ozzy/steve/joe etc saves it

Punk had hipster cred is why.
>>
>>222512545
Metal culture is all shallow aesethetics. Most of the dudes going to Slayer shows in their gay battle vests go home and then clock into their warehouse or IT job the next day. While there's plenty of poseurs, punks at least did "punk" shit. (This doesn't apply to 21st century "punks")

Punk isn't any smarter or less shallow than metal, but guys who studied filmmaking in school were more likely to be into it.

Anon Slayer is thrash, they literally play that shit on boomer radio channels. We're talking about actual metal here. Your grandma never listened to Burzum.
>>
>>222512545
there’s no story to tell. metalheads are usually normies. unless you’re gonna make shit about wizards and fairies like >>222512715 your options are limited
>coming of age, but METAL
>a gory horror film but METAL
>macabre aesthetics but METAL
all other themes that are discussed within the metal genre are brought down. and not every genre needs a film.
>>
>>222516815
Reminds me of another thing I hate about metal fans, they're all elitist, pedantic genre fags.

Thrash metal is still metal.
>>
>>222516756
True as that is, you don't really offer metal types a livable lifestyle in the first place. If the musician is making songs about serial killers, say, it's probably for the better that they don't actually go out and serial kill. Punk music is fundamentally about getting drunk and living in a shitty communal house with ten other dudes and committing petty crime. These are low stakes enough that you can actually do them for a while. Metal music doesn't really have that, since you just can't have a life where you're a satanic cultist that sacrifices people. You can't have a life where you're a roaming warrior or a occultist or whatever.
So instead it's all normal working people, like you said, who just think Conan the Barbarian has a sweet aesthetic or that they just want something brutal to keep their blood pumping when they hit the gym after a full workday. The idea of a metal lifestyle, such as it is, is pretty much confined to attending concerts and festivals and that's no different from any other subculture. You could call that larpy but I think everyone gets it from the start.

>You can't have a life where you're a roaming warrior or a occultist or whatever.
Not with that attitude
>>
>>222512715
That's among the shittiest genres of metal.

LMAO

I enjoyed this one. It was nice seeing them talking about how the whole act was mostly about who was the biggeste edgelord and they knew jack shit about satanism.

>>
Where is Castle Rat anon?
>>
>>222520006
Castle Rat is cool and the chick is super fucking hot but I wish they were just a little bit heavier. To me they occupy this space where I'm almost embarrassed to list them alongside Electric Wizard or Hooded Menace when I'm talking about Doom Metal. It's soft, soft Doom at best, on the periphery of the subgenre. I guess that's because it's more "trad" than extreme, whatever. She calls it a "Sabbath worship" project in interviews. I actually do like the project though.
