They grew up with extremely cushy middle class at worst lives and went to all the elite schools, so they thus have to create this bizarre, fun mirror liberal luxury conception of urban life where simultaneously everything is nice, clean, and diverse and everything bad is interpreted through microaggressions, addiction, and mental illness.

Plus the slant-eyes are growing up entirely within American big city culture so you've got a recipe for disaster with them taking over Hollywood or whatever. Regarding the show, I have no idea why it's animated because "3 faggots in a new york apartment" does not need the medium of animation.
