From what I remember, the show was a decent adaptation, but the special investigators were never special interesting and Reacher is not about team work. In the books, Reacher sometimes get some help and I don't mind them reusing Neagley in the show. I actually like the actress. But there is nothing to adapt, so they make it up by themselves and it will be probably be weak sauce because they suck at writing good stories. I guess once a production has a good show going, they try to "optimize output" but reusing crew and equipment to film the cheaper spinoff instead of making more "main show" seasons.
