Just to add to the explanation of why Budd allowed himself to be debased at the strip club by that greasy coke head jew:There was definitely a sense of guilt and penitence, but he was also living in the middle of nowhere to hide away from anyone who might have been involved in the underworld.If he gutted his boss like he probably deserved, or showed his power level in anyway, it might have brought police involvement, media attention, and alerted people to his new life.The fact he said Beatrix deserved revenge but laid a trap for her suggests that his self-preservation is too strong, and hence he worked a shit job and a shit life to not risk blowing his cover
