I rewatched Community because it was a show I really liked as a teenager, and even though I still think it’s a good show, I absolutely hated Abed on this rewatch.I didn’t remember this character being so annoying and unbearable, and for some reason all Community fans treat him like the best character in the history of sitcoms.He's basically Sheldon, but instead of being written by someone who's never seen a nerd in their life and just imagines what they're like, he was written by a nerd from the 2000s, very weird character, not really funny at all.
>>222525356He was the catalyst for a lot of episodes and meshed well with the group but yes, he comes off as anachronistic now.The first few seasons were lightning in a bottle with pierce being the cherry on top.I wouldn't suggest shitting on that by watching the later seasons
I don't really watch shows based on "liking" characters, like they're part of a story so I don't care if I'd personally be pals with them if they really existed.I found Abed to be funny in the first couple of seasons, he starts out as a character you'd definitely find in a community college. His flanderization is one of the worst in the season, as his Asperger's slowly morphs into him being The Great Gazoo instead of just a weird retard.

The Christmas episode where they have to play along with his autistic fantasy was the worst thing I'd ever seen until season five when they turned him into a straight-up aspie villain.The black housewife was still worse though. Brought absolutely nothing to the show.

not reallythey almost immediately started overindulging in his "personality" because harmon is a coward and thought it absolved him of all the show's writing cliches and he couldn't bear to just have it be a sitcom
