Even if the old dude she forced into getting hit by a car survived (which he almost certainly wouldn't) it was still attempted murder. Not to mention the fact that the old dude is now crippled for life from the injury and the person in the car who hit him is now traumatized. The best possible excuse Jean could argue for herself is that she wasn't aware he was about to get hit by a car when he walked backwards but that wouldn't hold up in a court of law. In real life you don't just to get to push somebody into the road and then if they get hit by a car argue that it was an accident since you didn't know the car was coming.
