I dont like kdramas because the stories are too normalfag-adjacent. I want stories about people who live in the dark hidden corners of society such as myself.
>>
>>222535771
kdramas are unrealistic. They need to pair all Korean women with a white guy to make it more realistic.

I can watch Kdramas or Cdramas because it reminds me of the years that I lived in China and used to fuck girls like this every week.
>>
I'm currently watching "My royal nemesis" and it's pretty good so far. The FL is new to me and reminds me a bit of Han Ji-min who I like. I'm on episode 3 right now. Hope the ML grows on me because so far he's pretty one dimensional.

I was trying to watch "We are all trying here" because a couple of people recommended it on /kdg/ but I couldn't get into it. Writing seemed a bit pretentious for me. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for something like that right now.

I just watched the first 2 episodes. I liked it well enough but didn't really enjoy it like I have some other shows right from the beginning. Hopefully it's not just a case of the prestige tv autists just thinking misery porn = quality.

10 episodes (too few), minimal character development, muted performances, gritty (pejorative), dark (literally couldn't see shit for more than half the runtime), didn't even seem like a kdrama. Western streaming platforms are extended gutters and the gutters are full of thrillerslop and when the drains finally scab over television will be dead. The accumulated filth of all their dark and gritty violence scenes will foam up about their waists and all the "prestige tv" viewers will look up and shout 'save us', and I'll whisper no romance no watch.

but i do like kdramas, i recommend these to anyone who likes good quality and concise storytelling, no bloat, just 6-8 episodes:
Bargain (2022)
The Frog (2024)
Karma (2025)
Mercy For None (2025)
S Line (2025)
Made In Korea (2025-2026)
>>
>>222544029
this is poison to what gave kdramas their appeal prior to the invasion of squid game tourists such as yourself. you've ran out of western trash to watch and now you want to bring all of the conventions that ruined it to kdramas.
>>
>>222544109
you're calling these shows trash? are you out of your mind?
koreans have been making shows about gangsters, corruption, thrillers for years. and they're pretty fucking good at it.
>>
you fundamentally misunderstand the medium of television if you're constantly going on about bloat and filler. just go watch movies if you can't stand watching a show that has more than a single digit episode count. I'm not saying bloat and filler don't exist by the way, I'm saying to don't know what they are.
>>
>>222544169
yes it has been many years since squid game came out. you're lying if you say the balance of melodrama vs thrillers has always been equal or that the balance hasn't significantly shifted since squid game. that stuff has largely been the domain of korean film.
>>
>>222544188
no. tv shows can be impactful and long form versions of movies, they can have strong stories and cinematics and production values but need a few more hours to tell a story. there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. and many, like myself really enjoy it. odd that what are essentially "miniseries" make your blood boil.
>>
>>222544169
he hasn't seen any of them, don't worry about it.
>>
>>222544311
because they come in and push out all other types of stories. look at the dates of all of the shows you listed. and I'm not saying koreans didn't make action/thriller prior to squid game, but they did it in a way suited to the medium of television, not chopped up movies.
>>
>>222535771

once again you're getting caught in in the specifics of individual shows like the idiot you are. I am talking about the industry trends and how those shows are indicators of changes to those trends, to the detriment of the types of shows that people came to kdramas for 10, 20, 30 years ago.

do you believe there is some conspiracy to destroy kdramas that you like and replace them with the ones I like?
who are you to decide if a 500 episode show, a 100 episode show, a 20 episode show or a 6 episode show is more for television?
do soap operas reign supreme?
do you watch your kdramas via korean tv shows only or do you stream or dl episodes?
its not just television networks now, its also streaming services.
and anyway if you have such a problem with the direction these shows are going, why don't you ask koreans what they think?
why dont you ask writers, producers, actors and broadcasters why they make stuff you don't like?

im not complaining about shows, you are.
you have no grounds to complain. you aren't keeping these companies alive, you aren't paying to help the actors, extras, staff, anyone. you have to accept what happens.

go on, gives us your little speech about how torrents spread malware.
>>
me and ntl live on different continents. lmao
see let me try and explain it to you in a different way.
its like when people on the internet complain that a piece of media doesn't have their specific group catered for, so the creators make it much more inclusive for them. and then that piece of media comes out and no one fucking buys it. and then the creator thinks "why the fuck should we listen to these cunts, they aren't helping us?" this is you and your kdramas. but you're even worse because you do all this shit anonymously. you could be a troll for all we know.
>>
alright well let's just ignore the disruptive troll and get back on topic. despite all the hand wringing about how kdramas are being ruined (they are), one of the nice things is the extremely large backlog of older show to dip into, as long as you know how to get the unmolested versions of them.
>>
I almost watched season 2 of A Shop for Killers today but I couldn't remember season 1 so I watched Sugar instead.

>>222546179
glad you resisted the urge to fall for the season 2 kdrama trap >>222539717 but you then when on a veered directly into the ditch. are you excited for the half assed ending you'll get when that show is suddenly cancelled?
>>
>only multi season shows have half assed endings!
>not my romance shows no way!
>>
>>222546331
perhaps, but they do end, and I know the end date before the show starts. Does everything always work out? Maybe not, but I don't suffer though the repeated humiliation ritual of season renewal then cancellation over and over.
>>
>still arguing over which posts are me in a thread I haven't posted in at all
might take a picture for the ol' scrapbook
>>
he's just baiting you guys to reply in his own thread. look at how happy he is

no, I'm rather disappointed you can't curb your obsession with to actually talk about kdramas in any meaningful capacity.

alright I'm out for now, have fun, try not to accuse too many people of being me while I'm gone. Don't forget to start a Park Bo Young kdrama if you haven't yet.
