Guys, I looked it up and Carmella wasn't even fucking wrong.

Billy Budd wasn't a "gay" book except to a few feminist retard usual suspect intellectuals claiming so in the 70s or whatever which then just became the "canon" of it, despite the fact it wasn't even a properly finished work of Melville (you know, that dude who died in the 1870s). It's about good and evil and bureaucracy or whatever and a parallel to the crucifixion of Christ or the fall of Adam or something. But the college students naturally only have that single solitary view of it which also disallows all other interpretations. The thing is, this would be clever and apt of Chase if I didn't believe firmly that Carmela is meant to just be taken as firmly in the wrong for the sake of the plot.

Sopranos is an 18 year old show dude
First show came out 27 years ago
>>
>>222538196
And? It's also the best television show in history and even zoomers love it. It will still be discussed 50 years from now if the entire world isn't just some favela by then.
>>
>>222538081
No idea what the retard above meant but the show being old (and good) means that it doesn't preach some specific nonsense into your face like it's scolding you, it instead presents world views of completely different people, each with their own perspective and outlook on life making their own points that COULD be correct or make sense but aren't supposed to be gospel. Carmela vs Meadow is a prominent conflict that really keeps running throughout the entire show and neither of them are presented as necessarily right or wrong
>>
>>222538081
>But the college students naturally only have that single solitary view of it which also disallows all other interpretations.
So it IS a gay book.
Or are you saying there can only be one single solitary view of it, and you are disallowing other interpretations?
>>
>>222538253
I'm glad we didn't have to read gay books in school. How bad is it nowadays? If Hollywood has been flooded with LGBTBBQ stuff then surely modern education systems are completely infested by it?
>>
I was watching marty supreme and he stole a piece of a pyramid, gave it to his mother and said "we built them", I googled that and jews didnt build the pyramids, its not even like a contested thing, everyone agrees jews didnt build the pyramids
>>
>>222538299
If you're a Christian you are obligated to think Jews built the pyramids unless you
a) think the scripture is lying
b) think Egyptians used jewish slaves for every other menial task but for some reason specifically barred them from moving heavy rocks

Granted if you're not a Christian (or a jew) it's easy to say the exodus narrative is just fiction but if you are one of those you're required to think it's real.

The moment when Tony decides it's for the best and tells them he's going to move out of the house for his separation with Carm, and Meadow is in her room and it hard cuts to a flashback scene of her going "GOD IS THERE NOTHING TO EAT IN THIS HOUSE". Reminiscing about being ungrateful taking things for granted, hits so fucking hard.

All college students group together in agreement against Carmela based on the interpretations of, as OP discovered through his own research, the opinions of a few intelligentsia from the fucking 60s, which they defer ultimate authority upon, considering the matter settled. Carmela is portrayed as a Fox News mom while Tony of all people is the jovial progressive.

So you agree with the college students.

Next thing you'll tell me vampires ain't gay. Put it in the slot.
>>
>>222539090
Yes, the collge students do not even humor the idea that Billy Budd isn't a gay book, because their teacher exposed them to that interpretation which he or she believes themselves and it must be right because someone gave a talk at a premier leftist college (all colleges are leftist)

I bet they called her a cuck.
How dare they not listen to alternative views.

I don't think this is true though. Literary analysis is pretty inclusive. You're mistaking a popular viewpoint for one that's exclusionary.
>>
>>222539191
maybe it's "inclusive" but clearly college courses are not, that's why they were taught only one interpretation of it (which the professor believes) which they hold as being irrefutable out of instilled compliance with "intellectual authority"
>>
>>222539212
They are to a degree. You can't argue any interpretation under the sun but the possibilities are still fairly broad.
>that's why they were taught only one interpretation of it
You would have to go to a pretty terrible university to only ever analyze texts a single way. The entire reason students learn about feminist and postcolonial readings or whatever is so that they can come at a text from different angles.
>>
>>222539212
By and large you are graded by how well you can fanwank your interpretation, anon. There are exceptions where the prof is an asshole, of course. It might be the norm now. I've been out of school awhile.

Why was Patsy unironically the coolest guy? I'm not even pro-fag I just mean he's pragmatic and fucking capable and really come from behind, full of surprises. Best "small" wiseguy character.

Kinda liked Albert. I wonder why they shelved the character.

Yep, Billy Budd isn’t gay at all. Neither was Herman Melville. His letters to Nathaniel Hawthorne weren’t super gay at all. Fucking leftists trying to gaslight me…
