Why are smart watches so rarely shown in movies? You could have a lot of cool scenarios with them too.

Smart Watches are dorky irl
>omg I need a less useful version of my phone strapped to my wrist even though my phone is in my other hand
>>
>>222548215
you could use them to give the audience a cue that a character is kinda retarded
>>
>>222549527
>>222549657
better and more useful than wearing some fag shit casio
>>
>>222548215
> people smart
> people make smart watch
> NO WATCH CAN'T BE SMARTER THAN PEOPLE
> people not put on smart watch in movies
> people smart
>>

There's no reason to own anything beyond a basic watch unless it's a Rolex. Smart or not. If you're wearing it as a status symbol, you might as well go all in. Nobody is impressed by your gadget
>>
>>222549527
Mostly I see them used to discern if something is necessary to bake up an excuse to get on your phone since most jobs don't take kindly to you being on your phone and it's kind of awkward to pull a phone out of your work pants when they're all pouches and pockets like police/tactical/firefighter/whatever pants. Like instead of pulling your phone out of those deep ass pockets or whatever pouch it's on you can just see it's spam and not bother
>>
>>222549697
I think wearing any watch at all is kinda tacky these days but I would respect a guy with a casio much more than one who bought a smart watch
>>
>>222549811
you are a fucking pedo, who cares what you think
>>
>>222549776
What boomer field are you working in where smart phones are a no no, but smart watches get a pass?
>>
>>222549834
well you're a double pedo so fuck you
>>
>>222549844
Manufacturing is where I saw the most but I also see a ton on cops now that I work EMS since they have bodycams and some EMS wear it too so they can quickly check if dispatch is calling them and they need to answer or if they can let it ring
>>
>>222549899
So dispatch is calling them on their personal devices?
>>
>>222548215
Have you ever seen Dick Tracy?
>>
>>222549919
Yeah, you give them your phone number. They use it for stuff that would just clog the radio(since it broadcasts to everyone's radio, portables and all) or if they want to say something that would sound bad if somebody was to say it over a scanner. ie "hey this guy is acting extremely weird. we can't understand a word and he sounds nuts judt a heads up" is best said over a phone so not everybody has it play loudly
>>
>>222549980
>Yeah, you give them your phone number.
I hope they're paying their phone bills.

Smart watches look like shit on camera and require too much fiddling to show time in a story line. Plus if the screen is too big with a huge chonky font it's going to show continuity issues when filming.
Nicer VS cheaper watches can be part of a character design and opens up product placement. Like all the Seamasters Omega has sold over the decades thanks to Bond films.

my casio wirstwatch has a timer, alarm, compass, barometer, can measure altitude and temperature, works underwater, never runs out of battery unless you throw it in a dark closet for a month, it's basically indestructible and never lost a second in 12 years.

now tell me again that you prefer a fagwatch that needs you to download an app on your phone and 24/7 internet connection to tell you what time it is plus a presumably wrong measure of your heart rate (only fatsos need that btw).
oh and the screen cracks the first time it falls from your sweaty hands

Being able to quickly check a notification on your phone at a glance without actually having to yoink it out of your pocket each and every time is incredibly useful, especially if you have some stupid fucking managerial job where you get like a trillion messages a day

Every other smart watch gimmick is gay
>>
>>222548215
>You could have a lot of cool scenarios with them too.
Like what?
>>
>>222550335
>if you have some stupid fucking managerial job
Every managerial job I've had has provided me with a company phone. If they want me to connect it to a smart watch, then I better get a company smart watch too

Who the fuck doesn't have an unlimited plan in the year 2779 Ab Urbe Condita?
>>
>>222550301
you are such a fucking dork lmao i could hit your head with a hammer and it would crack open like a watermelon lmao
>>
>>222550382
What happens when dispatch needs the call logs and the person with the personal device tells them to fuck off?
>>
>>222549811
>I think wearing any watch at all is kinda tacky these days
it's purely for jewelry not function, every motherfucker has a phone now, nobody needs to know the time from dated tech when we have atomic clocks in space syncing our phone time.
>>
>>222548215
Could be an element in horror movies.
>>
>>222548215
Alright fags, its been fun, see you later
>>
>>222550335
>check a notification
>incredibly useful

fitbits are kino
