Things I like about Clannad that are rare or rarely done as well in other similar series:
>token male best friend is an actual character and stays relevant even after the female leads are introduced
>MC has a real believable problem that he needs to work through and it thematically ties into Nagisa‘s character
>characters are shown to age in very subtle yet distinct ways (for example Tomoyo getting thicker arms)

Clannad: After Story would've been perfect if the the wife and kid didn't get brought back. After Story is genuinely one of the most touching depictions of loss and grief I've ever seen, but all the emotional moments of the entire season are rendered worthless by everyone magically coming back to life.
