Why don't movie studios cast cosplayers?

Several retired actresses have written books about their time in Hollywood. Almost all of them had to have sex with producers or directors in order to get cast for the role. A good example is Carrie Fisher. In her book Carrie says she had to sleep with someone to get the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars.
