About a little guy that lives in a blue world

Blue his house with a blue little window and a blue Corvette
And everything is blue for him and himself and everybody around
'Cause he ain't got nobody to listen

Misrepresenting the middle ages has an implicit political message, encouraging the viewer to denounce the 'unenlightened' past and to sure up support for modernity with its myriad woes.

thats not what happened, the neanderthal is extinct, all races apart from sub saharan africans have a 1 or 2 percent admixture of neanderthal DNA, with koreans being the highest percentage, sub saharan africans have their own admixture of archaic hominid, homo erectus (20%) pictured

Every Hollywood Medieval story that takes place in a small town is all about how it's dirty and colorless and how the (writer's insert) character want to move to the big city. The exact opposite of historical reality.

>>222571844
It’s not even just period pieces. Every “serious” film has to have a cold muted color palette.
Pseuds really like drab boring films cause it makes them think something “deep” most be happening that “normies” can’t understand.

There was a miniature ice age. The muted blue pallet actually makes sense but chuds want everything be in technicolor because warm colors make them feel safe.
>>
>>222578011
Most of the middle ages was part of the medieval warm period. The little ice age was more of a early modern thing.

The entire point is to make the past ugly. It is literally a gloom filter. When you see recreations of the past that aren't uglified, it inspires and uplifts you. Which makes you realize how twisted and ugly our current hell world is. By uglfying recreations of the past they are demoralizing and indoctrinating you to suffer the world today as it is without question.

Actually, urbanization was a big part of the later medieval era. Though it was more driven by the rise of mercantile interests in the city, and opportunities for work that arose in the wake of the Black Death. Turns out depopulating huge swathes of Europe creates labor shortages that make old feudal institutions like serfdom untenable. Peasants going into the late medieval period were more mobile, and economic focus shifted from the countryside to the urban centers.

The real explanation is that the British empire happened. History and how we view it is shaped by the British.
When people talk about the dark ages, about the medieval times, everyone thinks of the UK and how shit the times were. Even if the story isn't set in the UK, it looks like the UK.
For the British those were bleak times and it's still bleak today. I lived in the UK for years and it feels like living with medieval peasants but they are wearing cheap Chinese clothes. It's like medieval peasants wearing Adidas.

The UK gained enough power and influence to write history because Europeans invented guns, manufactured them and sold them to the Brits. Brits who had never conquered anything in their life, never won a war, now they had guns and they just sailed to any country they could find that didn't have guns yet and they took over. This made them very rich and they could afford to buy more things from Europe and build them in the UK, like the printing press and write their history and spread their culture.
There are basically two types of medieval times portrayed in the mainstream. The bleak no colors blue grey everything is shit British version, and the bright colorful honor and joy of Italian medieval times.
