It's much cheaper for McDonald's to make a burger because they have one of the most scaled and well developed supply and production lines ever built. They certainly pay much less for ingredients than you and their burgers are produced much more efficiently than you can make in your kitchen. So it is possible for them to sell at a profit while still being cheaper. Sometimes I crave a burger. I just want ONE but I still have to buy whole packs of ingredients. I already buy stuff like ground beef and onion so I won't count those. But I don't buy white burger buns or American cheese and I don't want to reuse them in other meals. I only wanted one burger so I'm not making any more. That means the buns and American cheese go to waste. So I not only paid way more for my one burger, I'm also wasting food. My burger production is comically inefficient compared to McShit's. It is way cheaper and less time consuming for me to buy the $3 burger when I randomly crave one than to make one at home.
