The biggest problem with avatar is that Sully and whatever the fuck her name is, and the whole family are FUCKING BORING.

If fire and ash had been only about sexy varaang and quarich betraying humanity for poontang, and they gave varaang actual tits the movie woulda done ten trillion unobtaniumillion dollars

There is nowhere to go with the franchise.
What is this shit ass family going to do next time? Move again?
We gonna see another tribe of avatars?
God... No thanks, I'll fucking pass.

The only path for the franchise to take is to dial in on actual good writing and story telling because the visuals, while impressive, are not mindblowing like they once were, and it would still be ridiculously expensive-- assuming they don't make the switch to AI.

No, he's not in a corner. He knew from the start that they wouldn't win. There's not exactly many other habitable planets but humans don't care about anything other than record profits

>>
>>222613857
I wonder if it'll actually start losing money by 5.
Every new installment lost money around 8-900 million dollars adjusted for inflation.
And last time Camegoon actually had to preface the fucking movie by saying it has no AI in it, which means that things are dire BECAUSE THE SOULLESS BUGMAN AUDIENCE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO TELL WITHOUT BEING TOLD EXPLICITLY.
By the time the next one releases AI will outpace it in quality.

It is horrible though, that a literal empty bugman visual slop film could be the highest grossing movie of all time. There are no "humans" on this planet. Only literal freak consoomtard fleshgolems. SUB bug men. Unter-unter-mensch. Anti-mensch.

Anyway, the last one FINALLY had good porn material in it, with basically a native BDSM goth mommy alien, the singular redeeming quality of the entire franchise. If the last movie will be her and her sisters being blown the fuck asunder by human dick for 3 hours, maybe I'll consider watching it.

Maybe if he used Fire and Ash to progress the plot instead of just rehashing Way of Water, that wouldn't be the case.

Ash and Fire was a misfire not just in terms of storytelling but also production. That movie should've been made and released in 2023, a year after Wow.
A shame because the movies are pretty good and I want him to finish the story. Jake and Kiri's arcs are dying to be completed. It'd be sad if after all this build-up we only got a graphic novel, or worse a poorly animated Disney+ show. There has to be a way of making these cheaper and quicker with AI. the sequels weren't awful but it's become obvious that Jim didn't have a huge epic narrative in mind and was just trying to retain control of the material by pretending he had a viable 5 movie arc ready to go.

the guy could direct 2 movies a year until he's 90 if he wanted, his autism is better applied elsewhere.

>>222629318
He did have a good story. He knows where it was going. However there was obviously behind the scenes drama of some sort that forced him to change almost the entire story of 3 on relatively short notice. Most of the confusing scenes are remnants of what was supposed to be happening but was changed like the energy vortex.

It's amazing the strength of the fake hysteria against Avatar. It's as impressive as it is sad. They're really upset that everyone loves Avatar and it does so well when it's the only original series left that's not decades late sequels to forty year old films nor slop for zoomers. It's the one film that still has 90s values including strong nuclear family values and traditional roles for parents, boys, and girls rather than forcing in fags and destruction of the family model. If they had it their way, Jake would have run away after knocking up Neytiri, she would be a fat single mother but she don't need a man anyway, and all her kids would be trans-non-bins. So they manufactured this Avatar derangement syndrome to have them endlessly spout the same tired disingenuous shit non-stop in hopes people will stop liking Avatar (they won't) and go see their garbage flicks instead (they won't).

>>
>>222613857
I think it's tragic because Avatar 2 proved that there's a really interesting entire world to explore with limitless potential. But Avatar 3 was a lazy retread of Avatar 2 and felt like filler. No one wants to spend 3 hours of their life watching filler.
Cameron is stuck in his boomer mentality of 'just give them explosions and quips!' completely ignoring that audiences want good stories.
I'd love to see his hinted Avatar 5 that takes place on earth. I'd love to see an actual conclusion to the human occupation of Pandora. I'd love to see sci fi magical live-action anime shenanigans. But instead we get uninspired generic repeats.
>>
>>222617844
He did. Supposedly.
He also promised that Fire and Ash would be a clear conclusion to the story arc. That was a fucking lie though.
>>
>>222623589
It's not a flop in itself. It's like how Star Wars 9 earned something like $1.2b give or take. That's a great box office haul. Out of context.
In context, you see how much more the previous films in the franchise made and see a very clear downwards trajectory.
If WoW made $2.1b and F&A made $1.5b, does that mean that A4 would make $900m? That's a simplifications but it sums up the issue when each films costs $300m+ to make. And remember, if your franchise is perceived to be losing popularity, that image will influence how people actually view it and result in a compounded effect.

Not really. Everything they could do was already done in 2 without being contrived. Either the humans needed to win or be actually defeated. There needed to be a time skip again further in the future to reset things and use a different location. Otherwise you get Avatar 3 which was always going to be way too similar because it was directly after 2.
>>
>>222613857

>>222637939
There's more to do than constantly rehash the same war between the na'avi and humans over Pandora.
3 should've been a timeskip and concluded the war with a proper victory that sent (most of) the humans back to earth (all the military).
4 should then be the earth film where Jake's forced to lead an invasion army against earth to stop them coming back and open real diplomatic negotiations.
5 can then be something completely new. Whether it's an adventure film set on Pandora. A horror film in the same universe. Or just a space marine action film that introduces new aliens. They could literally do anything.

But with Cameron dead set on doing it the way he has, 3 should have at least focused on na'avi vs na'avi conflict, with humans taking a massive backseat. Would've let them tell essentially the same story but without feeling so derivative of 2.
