Okay, so I just watched the first episode. I wanna preface this by saying I'm a HUUUUGE Green Lantern fan even if the movie was a little disappointing but I've been looking forward to this show for a long time. Let me tell you that Damon Lindelof, Tom King, and James Gunn have absolutely knocked it out of the park! This is pure, unfiltered Green Lantern goodness with lots of grit, mystery, intrigue but it's also not afraid to be funny. I'm a BIG Hal Jordan fan - Ryan Reynolds aside - and I gotta say Kyle Chandler is just PITCH PERFECT. He's cocky, brash, a little arrogant but it bites him in the ass sometimes in great ways. I know the ending was shocking and sad, but I'm not gonna judge the series too soon since this first episode was just so good. Plus we've got a whole season of John Stewart solving this mystery to look forward to! And Aaron Pierre is a STELLAR fit for John! Serious and competent and a total badass who can go toe to toe with Hal on his best day! Ever since the Justice League cartoon, I've been waiting for John Steward to have the spotlight and I think this is a great chance for audiences to see him shine - In Brightest Day, as the saying goes! So if anyone still has any concerns about the show, don't worry one bit! I've got ABSOLUTE FAITH in James Gunn's DCU, even if Supergirl didn't pan out the way we wanted, but now we've got the legendary John Stewart in his origin to prove he's got what it takes to be the BEST. So just give the show a chance. DO IT FOR THE CORPS.
Reddit pasta but I enjoyed it. Gunn has been doing a good job with DC and I was very sceptical. I ended up ignoring Peacemaker but then watched it and it turned out to be one of the best super slop dramas in years. Also for me its Golden Age and Silver Age DC.
I gayhate (that's when you hate something for being gay) this show.
it feels like a modern sequel to some show from 20 years ago where kyle chandler played hal and was cool and had fun weekly adventuresand now in this reboot he's a depressed loser fuckhead getting shown up by a young half-black dude who looks like a J Crew modelbut obviously that first show never existed so it's even worse
