In an interview he once said that he never bothered leaning how to direct actors to deliver lines because it doesn't interest him. The purpose of an actor is to look cool and not say much. He has described his central fascination with movies being the realization that "cinema is artifice" thus there is no point attempting to convey authentic emotions.
