Holy fucking kino… really looks into the perversity not only of the funeral industry, but how we treat the mourning process. The insistence on conspiracies by the characters mimics how people believe in an escape from death. I saw something similar in my step dad who thought there’s really a cure for cancer, but that it was withheld from his dead mother because of corporate interests. Grief creates delusions. Not being able to let go of a loved one who has passed is the birth of horror stories.

There IS a cure and it IS locked up. The people who knew about it were shot down in planes. DONT fucking look it up or you get put on a list.

Also, the movie is about Cronenbergs experience with his wife having Cancer and dying, that's why the dude looks just like him. Its a probably one of his best films and I'm glad I'm alive to see it. I also recommend Crimes of the Future if you haven't seen it becuse it makes The Shrouds feel like a prequel to it.

But he wasn't delusional, his wife did cheat on him and her lover was buried next to her unless I'm misremembering. And we all know chinks collecting data is no conspiracy.
