I find it very distracing when the focal length constantly changes from shot to shot. It makes the director/cinematographer seem very indecisive and unsure. Of course, it's perfectly fine and expected to change the focal length when needed for one reason or another, but there should be some artistic consistency in how they're used. When used with care, they're one of the most effective tools in setting a visual style. Sloppy use of focal lengths just reminds me of bad student shorts. Mad respect to homies to stick to one focal length for an entire film. Bless Ozu.
