How come movies aren't smart anymore? I noticed how it went downhill after the 90s blockbusters, when Independence Day was a huge hit. Marvel made it much worse but didnt cause it.

1)People don't have much free time to learn about cinema and be interested in it so they watch movies just to distract themselves but they don't want to think about the movies.2) The internet and smartphones have made everything faster and people have lost the ability to concentrate.
