It’s been bloody 15 fucking years and not a single better spy kino has been made.
>>222767942i got filtered because this movie made no sense to me
>>222767942I remember when this movie came out. I had no interest in seeing it at the time because I thought it had a pretentious & gay name. Are you telling me I was mistaken in that assessment?
>>222767942hands down one of the most boring spy-thriller movies i ever seen. did not care for it one bit. it just stays boring from beginning to end.
>>222767942americans suck at spycraft and brits are no longer relevant
>>222767942the alec guiness mini-series is even better
>>222767942>explain the plot challenge
>>222768831Midwit
>>222769064There was a mole in the circus
it's not even the best film adaptation of that novel
>>222769033is the sequel good
>>222769085a mole would be a terrible circus animal
>>222767942slow horses mogs this btw
>>222769064Smiley couldn't think straight because he got cucked.
>>222769093ThisIdk why you'd try to top the miniseries
>>222769107I don't believe it was ever made.
>>222769201Smiley's people got a miniseries with Alec Guinness returning as Smiley, but The Honourable Schoolboy never got one. Probably because the BBC didn't have the budget to shoot scenes in SEA.
>>222767942It’s not streaming anywhere
>No tinkering>barely any tailoringDROPPED
The book is even more confusing lmao>>222769126The whole point is that Smiley doesnt care about the cucking at all
>>222768760same, no idea what is going on, but i still liked it
>>222769201
>>222769228>>222769293What a pleasant surprise! I know what I'm watching next.
>>222769278It's been awhile since I read it/watched either version, but from what I recall didn't Smiley tell Bill that the reason he didn't find out about him earlier was because Smiley was shaken when he found out that Bill fucked his wife? So when Smiley noticed things that would give away the fact that Bill was a traitor, he thought it was just his personal grudge biasing him instead?
>>222769395yes, I remember that part being one of the more overt plot points.
>>222769395I also havent read it in years (and I might be wrong...) but my memory is that Smiley loved his wife but he wasnt particularly shaken as she cheated on him all the time
>>222769278>He just doesn’t care bro
>>222769605One of the first scenes in the book is Smiley seething that some random gossip who isn't part of the spy trade but who hangs around with them somehow knew his wife was cheating. It was so obvious that even that idiot knew about it, and Smiley was pissed.
>>222769605>>222769395It was bothhe wasn't surprised, but he was hurt by it
>>222769701but thats kind of the point, it was professional embarrassment, not personal
Smiley was pretending to be cool about the cheating, but ultimately that was a form of self-deception. Karla was able to piece together that Smiley was fucked up over his marriage because of the lighter and the desperate appeal. Smiley couldn't catch Haydon because he couldn't bear to think about someone at the center of his heartbreak. Control was getting close to catching Haydon on his own. Smiley wasn't really critical to the plot, but he was the most interesting perspective on the events.
>>222769395>>222769583>>222769735>>222769788Was Anne a spy too? Forgot how it wrapped up
same ending as the departed
>>222770682Nah, she was just a posh, spoiled cunt who cheated for the reasons women usually cheat. She wasn't in on the plot or anything.
>>222767942Gary Oldman was doing a Q&A for Darkest Hour that I went to, and this was the second film (after the Q&A). Holy fucking shitballs, it was hard to tell it was the same actor! I admit I never made it through the book but the film was great. Disturbing but great.
>>222769118woke trash. first ep, the brits demonize fellow brits who have national pride. fuck all apple tv. and i roll with gary oldman so you know i tried to like it.
British spy movie be like>wow this plot is like ultra complicated and historical relevant and the punchline is ....................................... gay sex
>>222769118Slow horses is woke trash the entire way but I managed to enjoy it up until the writing fell off a cliff in season 5.
>>222772276Why do bongs love bumming so much? >buttfuck at boarding school>buttfuck on HMS Rear Admiral>buttfuck while spyingis nowhere safe from british bummery?
>>222768826haven't seen it so all I can confirm is you are correct about the name
>>222772582Just a bit of cheeky fun innit?
