The gay community will try to convince you that animation quality world wide (The US, animes made in japan and animation made by the third world) didn't decline after the early 2000s switch from cels to digishit. Literally every good animation ever made was made on cels
Cartoons are for children
>>222771018Thoughtful visual media where time and effort is put into it is vanishing. The trend is less time, less focus, less money, to more content that is shorter in time. Top - Tom and Jerry short before a film. People paid money to be in that theater, which pays for lavish animation. Bottom: Some flat 2D flash shit they threw together just to say they have a new Tom and Jerry show. Kids watch it in the background and completely ignore it for the tablet in front of them. Instagram reels is the future of reality.
>the gay community OP would know
The world is no longer the meritocracy you either once knew, or once heard about. Some might argue it never was. The world runs on sheer nepotism, now. From the Rothschild Family on down, it is not what you know, but WHO you know. Or who knows you.The sooner you learn this, OP, the sooner you realize that we're all being buttfucked by those who never had to do a single day's worth of hard work in their life, the sooner you can accept it. Or don't. That's beyond my control.Perhaps you could go shoot a Rothschild.
>>222771018It's primarily economic. Digital techniques allowed them to cut costs -but they didn't keep budgets the same, they kept slashing them. It was a race to the bottom. Initially in the 90s, it was just digipaint. But then later on, they're using mostly digital tools that treat a character like a doll and just move them around. So that results in them wanting to have as few angles as possible, and just have the characters move back and forth on a plane with a background behind them. It's mostly economic - the money in tv and film is going down. Money in social media is going up.Social media IS "old media" but they found a way to have endless employees they pay very little to while they reap the benefits. Youtube is still seen as a bonus rather than literally working for Google. It's why they are pushing AI so hard. The tech compannies will finlaly be able to cut out the middle man - the creators. They can't write, draw, etc. but could only host the media of others on their servers and transmit it to viewers. Now the tech companies can just become the new content creators.
>>222771138I call it "Flatland" and you will see it all over digital artists, since it's what they're taught and what they learn since that's what gets people hired. They're not taught depth. "Adult animation" is ugly and flat.
>>222771018>The gay community will try to convince you that animation quality world wideI'll regret asking this, but what the fuck does the gay community have to do with animation?

>>222771164Cost cutting results in flatland. But that means visually bland nonsense. The storyboards are kept minimal, and there's no cinematography to speak of. There's no way to fix this since kids don't even watch tv anymore. All of tv-film is going to die within our lifetime, and be replaced by Big Tech Social media algo-AI slop forever. You will sit watching cilps of old tv shows remixed with AI forever. "TV" shows will no longer exist, only short clips.
>>222771275And in the old days, when there were actual storyboard artists they would specifically try to avoid flatland. Now it's encouraged. We have no one to blame for this.

I learned it's never coming back. So cherish what we have. Buy DVDs and BD since we don't know what streaming will offer. We are in part to blame for this. We cut cable. We watched youtube. We undermined the very economic system that produced nice looking animation and tv shows and embraced slop. Netflix even tricked us, by trying to make good programming for a few years, until they found out they could make more money churning out endless low effort slop for the masses.
>>222771164>>222771446it's crazy how much nicer pre 2000s scifi and fantasy art was
>>222771449>wethe switch happened in the early 2000s
It's never coming back and we helped kill it. Every single person in this thread. Thus we need to cherish what we have. There's enough old media (roughly 1850-2010) to read and watch forever. >>222771543Digital switch happened around 2000, but that was just one step and many early 00s digital shows are perfectly watachble. What really killed them is after 2007, everyone including children, started flocking en masse to social media. The breaking point seems to be 2020, where people just stopped going to movie theaters. People will spend 4 hours on "film twitter", not realize that they spend 10x more time on twitter talking about film than watching film. ie they're not film fans they're twitter fans. The only economic model where old tv/film can work is without an internet acting as competition.
Simpsons has a higher budget than normal, so they actually have more dynamic shots than most shows. But the flat-plane is still their default.
More flatland. It's all over animation.>>222771613Also the show went on so long new and old characters have wildly different art styles. Old cast have round eyes, new cast have oval eyes. The new art style is fine, just that it clashes.

To put things into context. Media comes and goes and no one's heard of it because they don't watch tv anymore. And there's so much - so many streaming shows, so many podcasts, youtube vids, etc. Our current environment doesn't allow for it.
>>222771593>It's never coming back and we helped kill it. Every single person in this thread.the switch to digitshit happened in the early 2000s when we were kids
>>222771675Those were theatrical shorts - they were given pretty good budget at the time. The idea was to create short little videos that play before movies. Then the trailers replaced them, and then animated movie shorts fell out of fashion. The theaters kept adding actuall stupid advertisements too. If we were to do all this and have shorts, we'd have something like 30 minutes before the film started. There was a brief attempt to bring back shorts, but it failed. I'm Mad is the last one I know if, and shockingly it's quite bland and bad. no idea why they went with this. A random Animaniacs scene is better and more interesting.

The breaking point seems to be 2020, where people just stopped going to movie theaters.Read you stupid fruit puff. The early 00s shows often were okay or nice looking. The digital switch allowed them to cut costs, but it's a boogieman if you place the blame entirely on that. It allowed them to make some shows that were similar in style to Hannah Barbera shows - simple, cartoony, flat, but whatever. The real dire trend is post 2012. I call the time before 2012 the "before times". It's never coming back. There was a poll some years ago showing that cartoons are being watched by people 28 or older. Kids totally checked out. That's why they're gay/queer now.
>>222771613All the Simpsons does these days is try to trick people by making their characters constantly over-emote by performing exaggerated motions with their hands/bodies when they're talking, because they're still mad about everyone saying that the animation looked robotic around the time they went to full CGI animation. It ironically looks more uncanny than it did before.>>222771628I want to say that's due to almost every episode now having "guest stars" where they're just bottom-tier celebrities that are basically run through a Simpsonizing filter. In the early days celebrity guests played actual characters, now it's just "Homer meets Mr. Beast" and shit like that. They can't draw them as actual Simpsons characters while keeping their distinguishing features because they're hacks, so they just draw a caricature and call it a day.
>>222771018Cels just got too expensive to justify. First it was doing away with hand inking and just scanning pencil drawings onto cels and then hand painting them along with the backgrounds, or doing extremely limited animation like Hanna-Barbera or Rocky and Bullwinkle. Then pencil drawings started getting digitally scanned with digital ink and paint when computers could do it at a high enough resolution and pace that made it faster than hand painting and photographing each frame. Then 3D got more advanced and did away with hand drawn animation all together, along with Adobe Flash being used more for 2D. Now anything 2D is heavily assisted with vector puppetry and/or 3D because the labor to do hand drawn frame by frame is way too expensive because comparatively, it takes a ton more hours to do it against 3D animation or vector shit. So, it's arguably been in decline since the mid-century. Animation is a commercial art, the bigwigs ultimately in charge don't see art, just a means to an end to make money, so unless you are making an independent or artsy film on your own, hand drawn 2D cels is never coming back to the mainstream, hell it's becoming rare for a cartoon show or movie produced these days to have even hand drawn 2D, everybody is using ToonBoom where you just have to draw key poses, and the inbetweens can just be puppet and drag/drop shit.

>>222771839No. That's a story we tell ourselves to remove culpability from ourselves. There's early 00s shows that look fine, and even normal. Some flat digipaint or whatever. But they sometimes had storyboards and looked like real shows all the way past 2008. My thesis is increasingly after 2007 kids and teens checked out of tv/film and increasingly went online. Batman Brave and the Bold was made in 2008 with actual storyboards and dynamic angles. It looked normal.
>>222771983Totally Spies is an early 00s show, and while obviously fairly cheap, they at least tried. I've never seen anyone complain about that show being too flat or anything. It has neon colored digipaint rather than using cels. I believe at this point they were still using storyboards, and still drew the characters on paper for each scene, before scanning them digitally and painting the scenes. Later animation techniques mean you can move characters around like dolls. Execs looked at that and said "wow, guess it means we can fire half the staff!". Storyboard artists go the axe.

You're pretty fucking dumb, you know? You have zero understanding how any sort of business works, you try to make evidence fit your conclusions rather than the other way around, you ignore other factors, like Treasure Planet not being very good and audiences starting to tire of Disney movies after more than a decade of prominence, and what evidence you do use is shoddy, if it's even true. This argument started out with you saying Disney was sandbagging a movie they didn't even make, and now you're faulting them for releasing it in one of the key periods of the year after getting easily researched dates wrong. >>222780002>protesters just want.... atention? No shit. Only idiots like Jimmy Dore believe Occupy was anything more than that. Even calling it "Occupy" feels faggy and wrong there was no Occupy.
>>222780107protests are literally about drawing attention to an issue anon. that's why occupy's "issues" were shifted from a bailout structured to protect people's homes to race. the latter no one has to pay attention to.
>>222780083Then by that logic corporations are deathly afraid of the Republican party and subverted it with racial policies just like occupy. Does that sound right to you?
>>222780039but it isn't, and it's also behind glass, so the outcome of your attack is that a janitor has to wipe off a stain, and you commit the attack precisely because you know this to be the case. if there was real power in it, you wouldn't do it. that's also exactly what occupy was: you posed for pictures with a sign because there was no power in it, because exercising power is scary and not at all what you're looking for.
>>222780144>Then by that logic corporations are deathly afraid of the Democratic party and subverted it with racial policiesfixed with what quite literally happened.and yeah, they definitely want all "politics" to be about identity. Like how they want "republicans" screaming about trannies in bathrooms and not looking at who's creating the trannies to put in bathrooms.
>>222780090So you have no argument, leftist kike
>>222780148>i don't understand, I did have breakfast this morning
Cool World might not be good, but it's still a very unique movie
>>222780167My argument was >>222780039, and is mostly just a hypothetical on how destroying a van gogh could save the whales. You had no response, thus conceded the point.
>>222780164>corporations forced the left to be about social politicsYou bootlickers are getting more and more desperate. Corporations don't make immigration laws, the government doesNow answer his question instead of building strawmen
>>222780014I literally never said it’s an illusion. What the fuck, man. I’m saying there’s a reason it looks that way and it’s not that the average skill level of Japanese animators had declined at that time. Rather, the changes in the anime industry at the time were driven by a boom in more niche anime aimed at otaku, which actually expanded the size of the anime market a lot.
>>222779585>>222779671>>222779723>why was the entirety of the "political" landscape resculpted from economics, policy, societal issues, etc, to race, gender, and where you like dicks to be put? There are anons who were born pre 2003 so they remember that is what leftardism always was. Your gaslighting does nothing.>butbutbuttIf Muhcuppy got subversed by hecking establlishment and corporations, you will now explain why every single chungus wholesomerino leftist union blast that subversive message 24/7.You won't though, you will cope, seethe, and then dilate instead.
>>222780179its unique in how kim basinger can be a huge downgrade from anything.
>>222780188I did respond here >>222780073 which is when you refused to make an argument because you know you got blown out, leftist kike
>>222780194>>222779826>The reason the quality of animation in anime seems to have plummeted>seemswhat does "seems" mean in this context... oh wait you aren't anon at all. my bad.
>>222780200Not to mention the left was pushing anti-white policies in culture since the 90s in the UK and the EU
>>222780133>protests are literally about drawing attention to an issue anon.no they are not. nobody remembers why the lefties threw soup on a van gogh, and yet people continue to do activism of this type, even though they have seen a thousand times already that it doesn't achieve the stated goal of "drawing attention to an issue." that's because that's not actually the goal. the goal of activism is itself. they just like the attention, how it makes them feel. they like having an excuse to be a public nuisance. that's it.also, even if "drawing attention to an issue," was achieved, that is in itself a borderline worthless goal. extreme attention has been drawn to starving niggers, for decades and decades now. and? did they stop starving?
>>222780209That is a non-sequitur with an ad hominem anon. Thus, a concession.
>>222780240>in the UKwhy do you europeans pretend your country matters?
>>222780248I just goggled it and it seemed to be the ones owned by oil lobbies/companies
>>222780178i did engage with your hypothetical. right here:>if there was real power in it, you wouldn't do itif the van gogh was owned by a whaling company, and you could really destroy it, you wouldn't do it. you throw the soup because you know it does nothing. that makes it safe.
>>222780337have to admit I read it as soap.
>>222780300what are you talking about? the van gogh sunflower painting? that's publicly owned, dummy. it belongs to the british government.
>>222780416There's more than one anon. and lol at "publicly owned"
>>222780228I said “seems” because it is basically impossible to objectively compare the technical quality of ‘’all anime from the 2000s’’ with that of the 1990s.Not only do the number of titles differ, but the budgets and production schedules also vary, and the differences depend on the perspective from which you view them.
>>222780240I don't agree with the thesis that this was done to defuse occupy, imho it would have happened anyway because it's in the nature of the jew to divide and destroy with or without an ulterior motive, but what the change they're talking about is in the public posture of large corporations, not in what leftists think. In corporations adopting/enforcing a far left ideology.
>>222780452>and lol at "publicly owned"why?
>>222780461So the decline in quality is real because labor is stretched thin. There's nothing "seeming" about it. Its objective fact and you admit it. Anime has declined massively.
>>222778572>no snarky quips>no pop cultural references>no expository dialogue to explain what is happeningTerrible cartoon
>>222780497>it wasn't done to diffuse occupy, it was just jew nature to diffuse occupy...
>>222778287Didn't they make Musk when he was still an epic reddit chungus? If they made him now, he would look really different
Cats Don't Dance is underrated
>>222780515Do you consider “anime has declined massively” even when the popularity of anime increases fivefold and the numbers of titles increases twentyfold?Only gaijins who don’t understand what was going on would say something like that 20 years later
>>222780643>we don't care about broadening appeal>broadens appeal at cost of quality
>>222772284>south park
>>222780587yesthey really thought that asshole was "real life Tony Stark" and shit like that
>>222781106>theyYou mean you.
>>222778812yes I am
>>222772550yeah it's always either the smug smirks or the devious rapeface grin they like to put on characters sometimes
>>222771123You aren't supposed to talk about those families.
>>222771411I love how horny modern cartoons arethey turned that old hag into a hot muscle mommyI'd say at this point western toons have more fanservice than anime
>>222781615I think I finally have a clean definition for “safe horny.” It’s shit that makes people go “what? … ok”
>>222781384Then act like it.
>>222781749I don’t need to act funny. I am funny.
This thread made me want some mango drink.
