Kids don't belong in the road, and if they ARE going to be in the road, they need to be looking both ways and paying attention to their surroundings.

To me, any kid who's crossing the road and isn't even bothering to pay the fuck attention to a car steadily approaching them really deserves to get hit.

It's not a fucking playground, it's for traffic. Roads are for cars, not for you to walk around daydreaming about other shit.
